I just barely can bend 90 degrees at the waist. My joints sound like bubble wrap. But this is something I need to do. My depression has had control long enough. Time for the sleeping Devil Dog to wake up.

Work up to it! Been doing the same. A little bit more each day

It will turn around fast if you stick with it. Within 2 weeks you can both lengthen and strengthen muscle, and equally important: ligaments

And here I am, somehow managing to injure my back while sleeping.
But I'm glad you're getting into shape again, OP. When my depression was at its worst, the only things I found that helped were small (or big, in your case) actions towards caring for myself. Brushing my teeth, making my bed, eating something healthy, brushing my hair. Etc. I'm very hopeful for you that things will improve.

Thanks.

there isn't any evidence that stretching prevents injury or help recovery.
Hashbrown123
No, but it is nice to be limber. Before my depression I used to be able to do a split.

are you stretching from a cold start? maybe a hot shower or some light cardio would make the stretching hurt a little less
Hashbrown123
I generally do light stretching first, then when I am done with my exercising I do some deeper stretching

Are you commenting from a cold start?
ruint
