One of the best films ever made.

That scene left me thinking the salvage guys had found some quite unpleasant stuff before.

I miss practical effects so much.

Pretty sure I read that Sigourney came out and said that wasn't actually true.

My favorite part of the alien movies is how much r&d went into allowing people to reasonably safely smoke in ships and on space stations

#2 Is that the little girl's stunt double?
QuietTiger
I think so.

Wrong! 1986 was 14 years ago.
CouldntCakeLess
I still consider this being a modern action movie!1
huffnpuff72
Its an action movie, but better than modern ones that rely on action sequences that are too long and too much cgi.
CouldntCakeLess
Oh yeah. And the designs are fire!

So, a really neat thing in the late 80’s, there was an exhibit at our local science museum that had a lot of props and things on display. There was a bunch of stuff from Masters of the Universe, Jaws, some other stuff I don’t remember, and the mother fucking life size Queen Alien and a mannequin of Ripley in a power loader doing battle like at the movie’s climax. The room was dark, potentially had some fog, and only the spinning light on the loader and being a small child… it left an impression

Took me forever to realize the dropship crash was a rearscreen projection effect.

Cameron is the most demanding director in Hollywood but all his movies make huge amounts of money for the actors.

Assuming they survive. Half the cast of "The Abyss" nearly didn't, Ed Harris has refused to work for him since (even punched him on set)
SprinklesMckitten
Huh, suddenly pondering how many actresses folks dubbed "sexy" missed their chance to be action mommies like Ripley
slatsisanoldie
Game over man!
afrontontvWOLF
I love this movie and it's characters, but a small part of me curses how good it was, because they created the "badges space soldiers" that got copied in too many movies without a fraction of the originals' charisma.

#2 So that's her stunt double, right?
TrilithonStone
#1 omg... so cute!
DrDadJokes
#16 this is from a scene cut and removed from theatrical release, Burk was not dead but brought in the nest like Newt.

Never see an Aliens film with a pregnant woman. Just.... Don't.
FlatPlutoSociety
I saw Prometheus with a woman who had recently had an abortion. WHOOPSIE.

Mine was my sister. Is your friend still talking to you?
CyberWizard252
40 years? Wait...that would make me....I don't want to talk about this.

No AI or CGI has been harmed in the making of Alien movie.

awesome. practical tricks rule. funfact: do you know that the 3d computergraphics in escape from new york are actually real models of buildings painted all dark black and than the edges are painted over with neon colors. geniuses at work. they dont make them like that any longer.
Pasquinelthe2nd
Addenum: James Cameron worked on the special effects for that movie.
TrilithonStone
#2 why does Newt look 40!
