These photos take a lot of time to process so NASA is relying on volunteers that have awesome photo editing skills. These people spend hours upon hours piecing together multiple low resolution photos to give us these amazing pictures.
This is the one that gets me. Simply Stunning.
Jupiter is not as calm as we originally thought it was. From a distance it appeared that the layers were continuous and running in parallel but as you can see from the closeups, there are hundreds if not thousands of storms fighting each other.
We finally get to see what the poles are like
Juno is the first satellite to get so up close and personal with Jupiter. For Juno to be able to get so close to the planet and not fall in, the satellite is traveling at ridiculous speeds. The downside of this is that the passes are very quick and it takes 54 days for Juno to get back into position.
But these photos alone are worth the wait.
