We need to have some stronger laws about bad cops. Not a slap on the wrist type thing. Prison. Cop abuses their position make a minimum of 5 years in the harshest prison there is and mandatory no special protections because they were a cop. Heck, require them to wear a special uniform in prison that designates that they are ex cops.

I go for late night walks in my safe suburban neighborhood. A few weeks ago I had a cop drive by, stop, backup, and then try to question me about what I was doing. After a few minutes he gave up and drove off.
10 minutes or so later I noticed two cars acting kinda strange. The first turned onto the street I was on and slowly passed me. The second turned as well, but stopped and just sat there. I turned around to look and noticed it was a cop car, so I started filming.

At that point he turns his lights on and pulls over the other car. Turns out it's the same cop. I stayed back, but made it obvious I was there and filming. He had two more cars show up and each tried to asking me questions and subtly intimidate me. Then they started turning their spot lights on me.
In the end he gave the Indian couple a warning for driving without a license (husband was teaching the wife to drive). Pretty clear that if I hadn't been there it might have gone significantly

After he released them he came over towards me in a clearly intimidating manner to wish me a good night and "I hope you enjoy your first amendment rights".

Yeah, lawsuits against the police should be settled from the police retirement fund and NOT able to be replenished from their budget. Perhaps if you think all cops only work as traffic cops. But I sure as fuck would not want to go to a domestic violence call, and they do. Regardless of how you feel about their abuse of authority, it is factual that their job is dangerous and because of that it can be stressful. There's more dangerous jobs, sure, but not all that many. I know it's easy to hate them, and they keep giving good reason to hate them, but you can't just ignore reality and pretend their job is easy and cozy.

There are too many attorneys. For real. If you're not a partner in a bigger firm you aren't necessarily making good money. I mean, you should be able to get by with a law degree and have a decent career if you're not incompetent, but it's not a pathway to riches as it was maybe once seen to be.

I had 2 Hispanic employees who went 2 blocks away from the shop to grab lunch at 7-11. I heard the 2 were pulled over 1 block from returning. After seeing 3+ police cars heading that way, I drove over to find out what was going on. 7 young WM cops had the driver surrounded outside. Driver was recording. Both were scared. Tensions Escalating. I, a white man in a bmw stopped in the street. Walked right into the circle totally unchallenged and pulled him away from the situation. 0 charges filed

Yes It is. Both guys were scared because the reason for pulling them over was a bs story about a report of reckless driving, and no way was a report made and responded to all between 1 block of travel. As a point of how they judge by appearance, I was especially shocked by how effortlessly the white guy with the bmw was able to walk right into the circle and walk the driver out of the situation with absolutely no resistance from any of the many officers (5 cars and 7 or 8 officers)

Agreed. All cops should know people's rights & respect them. Arresting someone in your car does not grant them carte blanche to harass anyone else on the scene. A cop tried to command my passenger to show ID while I was passing my sobriety test once. My friend refused. Sitting in a car is not a crime. Rookie cop said, "I can make you show it to me. Get out of the car." My friend said, "You'd best ask your supervisor about that. I'll just remain seated here while you do that." He never came back.

That officer was demoted, but not fired. There was another cop that showed up after him and tried to tell him the same thing about recording. Other officers were given him attitude, and were baiting an escalation woth him. They got real quiet after they found out he was a criminal defense attorney. They knew they fucked up.

I would like to look it up immediately, as all new laws are public information, so we can sort this out immediately!" Shockingly, they never, ever know the statute. I had a cop straight up tell me it was the "Do not record me" law. You bet your ass I kept recording him.

This article was interesting! Human trafficking is terrible, obviously, but the statistics about how common it is are regularly poorly collected and misreported to inflate numbers. The headline discussed trafficking, but it looks like prostitution. They don't say anything about moving people or coercion? Obviously he was acting illegally, but from the article it's difficult to say if he was also acting unethically.

I'm always a little skeptical when criminal defense attorneys are charged in conspiracy cases. Because, maybe, or maybe they were just the criminal defense attorneys for some criminals. Cops already hate these guys and will view anything in the worst possible light. So hopefully a jury can figure it out fairly.
