Most people I know recommend to start with the 9th or 10th Doctor if you've never really watched it before.

The beginning. duh. People laud the new doctors but fuck 'em. It's like starting star wars on episode 5.

9th Doctor. 2005 reboot. Episode is called "Rose". My wife is going back and watching all the old episodes but some of them are TERRIBLE.

And a lot of the episodes from the first 3 doctors are "reconstructions" due to lost footage. Think "Doctor Who in Powerpoint"

I don't really watch this show either. But it seems a good place to start is the season with the guy third from the right.

I'd start with the 2005 reboot. That way you get to feel like you "earned" all the Doctors, but it's still got modern production values.
