It's also the richness of it and how that's a lot of oil and fats. Coffee too, we used to make staff coffee every shift. It wasn't super great (honestly with that job I'm really really surprised the coffee we got never changed in all my 7, 8 years, it was not great) but I was a fiend. After a while I changed coffee to a "once in a while" beverage and not "don't talk to me until I have my coffee" beverage. And felt much better

Worked for a summer at a chicken place. The biscuits were amazing, and we were specifically told that if one got damaged, it was fair game. There was a lot of 'Whoops! I damaged this whole tray of biscuits' going on.

Where my uncle and aunt live, theres a chocolate factory, one of the most important od my country, and they know many workers and they all tell the same story. You're free to eat as much chocolate as you want there. By the second week you are so tired of chocolate that you nver eat it again.

I used to live near a Jelly Belly factory, and in the gift shop they'd sell these giant bags of "Belly Flops" that are all the irregular beans that have minor visual imperfections but are otherwise fine. They were like super cheap compared to the normal ones.

A five pound bag of cheap beans SOUNDS fun, and then after a while you never want another jelly bean for years.

Oh look that cake appears to have a small mouse foot sticking out of it. Better eat it.

At the end of the day, they would tell us to discard the leftover salt rolls in the steamer box. We ate a lot of salt rolls with butter...

I once did that at a prescription manufacturing plant. For some strange reason I was going to the bathroom a lot, bleeding from multiple orifices and constantly having erections lasting more than four hours...

I worked at a local movie theater as a teenager in high school (before I joined the army and left for basic a while after graduation).

I was a concessionist. The manager said you'll get tired of eating popcorn really quick working here.

Bullshit. I ate so much popcorn, took home huge bags of it for me and my dog, I still love popcorn. And I had nearly my body weight in freezies and nachos. Still love those too.

Any food service. I've worked everywhere but simplest way to put it. Pizza place. You order the deluxe no olives. Mistakes happen. It comes out with olives. There's two things to do at that point. Say fuck it and send it anyway (no no, don't do that. And I've had lax people try to get me to do it especially at that pizza job but that was a filler job for my server job. I'm not taking that make it again) or hey that's staff pizza now. Mistakes get eaten. It's a fact

Yep. I worked at Pizza Hut for a year and a half, and for several years after, just the smell of pepperoni pizza made me gag (pepperoni being the most common prank order we got).

Or I used to cater waiter. Health code forbids people from taking home food from a buffet due to health risks. If anyone asks for a to go box, no. What happens to the food? We compost. Lies we box up the travelable food and thats our post shift meal. To the point where a necessary part of training was telling new people "yo don't box up the fish." Your fries that sat in the window for too long? "My fries are cold" "Im so sorry about that I'll get some fresh ones for you" guess where the fries go

We had a discarded pile in a choco factory i worked at in my youth, didnt take long before i realised why people rarely took anything from it cuz apperently you can get really fucking sick of chocolate.

Survival of the uncommitted.

I just never get sick of foods I like, honestly. I can eat the same thing every day and never get tired of it. I don't mind variation, but I can and will just eat the same food over and over and over. I would get diabetes so fast if I worked at a bakery/chocolate factory/etc,

It's weird the delicious things you can get sick of because it's a food perk at work. My example is spring rolls. Chicken and shrimp so it didn't help that I'm a "I only need like four shrimp and then I don't want anymore shrimp" kinda guy. But because of the shrimp, take these because we can't sell them tomorrow. I just couldn't after a while.

I have worked in a mars bar factory. can't even look at them now.

Lol, this is why I'm holding back at my new job at the chocolate factory. XD

It's not because a German boy fell into the chocolate river, contaminating it?

3 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Naw, that only happens when you don't lock out the chocolate vat and accidentally drown in it.

Which could actually happen if someone was reaalllyyyy stupid. Like there is THAT MUCH chocolate.

If it's good chocolate (dark chocolate with over 50% cacao solids) you can even get a little high / euphoric from the cannabinoid content. But the cheap stuff will likely make you sick before you feel anything other than a slightly improved mood.

I meant more sick of as in i didnt even want to look at chocolote for a good year

If you eat enough chocolate you can get theobromine poisoning, which can lead to trembling and severe headache and even heart attack. But you really have to eat a lot to get there.

So... Death By Chocolate?

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
