I’m gonna call bullshit on a 20 foot 3000 degree flame from anything sized small enough to be conveniently concealed. 3000 degrees is obscenely hot. Way higher than modern firefighting gear is rated for, way higher than the flashover temp of most rooms/spaces/structures. (At roughly 1000 degrees, everything in a standard room will combust even if not directly impinged by flame.) so far as I know, military flamethrowers only hit 1500-2000 degrees.

#27, Austria, Denmark, France, Iceland, Norway, Portugal, Sweden is in the top 25 for most guns owned per 100 people in the world. Canada is in the top 10. Just because we don't hand them out with every purchase of store brand breakfast cereal it doesn't mean you can't own guns here.

I was going to make a similar comment. You have to pass what is essentially a safety course to own a gun. Having taken said test I have to say that if you can’t pass the course you shouldn’t have a gun.

The Canadian ability to own and enjoy firearms has become super limited lately. The Liberal government has been on a **massive** banning spree through Order In Council decrees. And the alleged "voluntary gun buy back" is nothing of the sort.

Also, there is no country on Earth that has flat out banned private gun ownership. You have to apply for a permit and pass extensive background checks in the civilized world, and in some countries you have to prove an actual need for a firearm (licensed hunter, bodyguard, sports shooter, celebrity or politician who receives occasional death threats, or someone who lives out in the sticks with a long police or animal control response time). But a complete gun ban is unheard of.

That being said, the number of gun deaths is directly proportional to the percentage of gun owners in a country. American conservatives love to claim that there are countries with lots of privately owned guns and virtually no gun violence, but that's a myth. More guns = more deaths. There are no exceptions.

In Sweden ~6% of the population owns one or more guns legally. 45 deaths by gun violence in 2024. ~2.5-2.8 deaths by gun violence with legally owned guns. The illegal weapons are the problems in Sweden.

Oh, I see what's happening here. Homicides =/= gun deaths. Firearm-related mortality includes accidents (as well as "accidents", meaning gross negligence that should be prosecuted as homicide as well as intentional homicides that are never investigated as such because the shooter made it look like an accident. I think it's probably more complicated than that. Like the US has had a significant rise in the number of mass shootings in the last decade and a half. Like sure gun sales are probably a pretty good indicator, but owning a gun and using a gun are very different. Like what kind of gun and whether or not you invest in a safe are probably pretty important too. Concealable firearms are significantly more problematic than hunting rifles and shotguns. They're still pretty close to the line. Of course there are outliers, but I don't see any extreme deviation that would disprove the trend. It would be different if, say, Canada had near zero gun deaths. Besides, why would you even want to remove the US? It's the single best example of what happens when a country has more guns than citizens.

This is also why I would remove USA. It is such an insane outlier, that it unreasonable to compare it with any of the other points
