Heh, seriously, though, I am trying to make some custard cakes, but I really can't stand the taste of powdered sugar. Anyhoo, I read about trying granulated sugar, and yep, tastes so much better, but grainy as all hell.
Damn it! Maybe I can find a method that works better. I had this on low heat, whisking frequently, but of coarse (pun intended) that didn't work.
My first one, had put the lemon glaze on while it was still warm, so it pretty much looked just like this, but a little shinier, heh.
Here's the post I made about it, with a recipe. https://forum.lettucecraft.com/t/lemon-flan-yellow-cake/37147

If you use granulated sugar (or better yet, caster sugar), cook it in a saucepan to melt it.

Damn! Bed time. Well, first experiment was a bust. 🤔, maybe get a peppermill...nah, the sugar would probably gum that up quickly. Coffee bean grinder? Maybe. I can test with my mortar and pestle...STOP IT, you need sleep, FFS. Until next time! Zzzz!

I have successfully used a coffee grinder to make my own superfine sugar!

Electric coffee grinder. Just wipe out the coffee residue. Source- I am a chef.

I'd vote for the mortar and pestle.

Hah! No! A sugar glaze attempt out of granulated sugar. It works, tastes a hell of a lot better, but completely unusable.

I understand not liking the taste of powdered sugar. I hope you figure a way to use granulated sugar or grind your own.

Powdered sugar is regular white sugar pulverized finely with corn starch to keep it from clumping. Grind your own in a clean spice grinder or boil a simple syrup first

That's it. Spice grinder. I knew I was forgetting something. Mental note to self: Re-read the comments.

Lol, I should have clearly read your post before just jumping in with my info.

Oh nonono! I need all the help I can get, heh. Am in a hell of a lot of pain, and dizzy spells from meds I took out of desperation to please or escape my ex wife. So the brain, he no likey the remembering anymore, heh.

Oof! Mine was prescription aspirin in 2021. Only took it for two weeks, and been suffering since. Not as bad now, but still get bad dizzy spells which mess up my mind pretty badly. Ex had made it that I was faking it, and it wasn't that bad, and one reason why I'm barely able to live right now, ðŸ˜. Eh, best not think about it, heh. Sorry, still stressed out from everything yet, HAH! Can't sleep either.
