I've never had gumbo. Always wanted to try it though it always sounds so good
fivetoone
Damn son, this is the first food post without a recipe I'll upvote
ColdBloodedSniper
I would love to give you one! But I went to a hidden restaurant that my fiancée and I stumbled upon! And we did not regret a thing lol
DeadlyCheese
That looks amazing!
ColdBloodedSniper

Strait up, where the crawdaddys?

The thumbnail looked like a toilet bowl...
ColdBloodedSniper
And I would still eat this gumbo out of a toilet bowl that is how good it was!

What restaurant?
ColdBloodedSniper
creole cajun bistro: family owned
Gr8ballsoffire
In Arizona?
ColdBloodedSniper
Es sir! Family came down here from Louisiana and had created this family owned restaurant right here in Arizona! We have food from all over
tomascco
I'm a Cajun. I've never had beef in gumbo, and I never put seafood and meat together.
TheGreatLunchbox
Yeah, although this looks great, in Louisiana you make a seafood gumbo or a sausage and chicken gumbo, but never both
DerekFuselier
Came to say this. Faux pas.
deadeyesatan
Is that typical for Cajun or personal preference?
tomascco
Typical Cajun, and not all parts of Louisiana are Cajun. To be fair, OP did not say Cajun gumbo. Whole different level.
deadeyesatan
Feel like linking me your most favourite Cajun recipe? I love trying new cuisine
tomascco
The recipe is simple. The ingredients are hard. I use local products, which are difficult to source elsewhere.

4a. Major omission! Season chicken liberally with salt, pepper, cayenne and hot sauce. Chicken should be red. DO NOT DEBONE!
tomascco
2. Mix and stir over medium heat for at least 45 minutes.
tomascco
1. Make a roux: flour and fat (good cooking oil)
tomascco
5. Bring to boil. Simmer for 2-4 hours. I let it rest overnight in fridge. Heat and serve with steamed rice and filé powder to taste.
deadeyesatan
Wow, thank you so much. I'm making this tonight!!
tomascco
4. Add everything: cut up whole chicken, sliced pure pork sausage, chopped onions, peppers, celery and garlic.
