Working on my first game. And slowly progressing. Added a HUD, levers, ladders and Platforms. Punching is the basic attack.

Second attack is the revolver, which is used here against knife thugs and a poisonous cactus. Also added slopes.

Vulture attack from the sky. Also dead knife thug, rifleman and a bottle of whiskey(health).

Added dynamite for clearing blocked tunnels, or just blowing shit up! Barrels can be pushed and used to reach platforms.

Murderous riflemen!

The barrel’o’matic is nice, when you run out of barrels..

Making plenty of secret tunnels and the like. Levers can either open doors or spawn steps/platforms that make the unreachable reachable.

Any other game makers out there? Hobby or pro? Any and all advice is very welcome.

i would invest some time into the aesthetics of the game, at some point. repetitive tectures like that are literal eyesores

I’m definitely gonna do something about the tiles. Just haven’t figured out what. Any ideas?

Thanks for the advise. :)

Should also make some levers tricks that spawn enemies or trigger traps.

Good idea. Thank you. :)

But make tip-offs for it so it feels fair. Maybe an enemy hiding and watching. Something the astute player can notice to avoid trouble.

And traps shouldn't be a 'hit the lever and you're dead' sort of thing. Have to give players the chance to recover from a mistake.

Could even be a closing of a door opens a window thing. Like an impassable trap sprung has a hidden go around or something.

I'd also say go more western frontier mining themed so the tunnels make more sense in the context. Player could collect gold nuggets...
