if you mean the 3rd one down, it gets used. that is why the pockmarks are on the front(left) is because it has been accidentally chewed up by the garbage disposal.
Yeah but it takes a little longer to explain to people who aren't used to D&D. I teach/run introductory D&D games to completely new players and the concept of spell slots is one of the more complicated concepts to introduce.
For those unfamiliar with spoon theory, it's a metaphor for how much you can handle, emotionally or mentally at the moment. Think of a "spoon" like a mental energy token which you can allocate to something that needs attention. Basically, the more "spoons" you have, the more you can deal with. If you're "all out of spoons" you're at your limit.
People may wonder "why spoons?" Well, let's say you go to the drawer to grab a spoon and there are none, because they're all dirty. There's really nothing you can do except stop whatever you're doing just to wash one. It takes time to wash them and replenish your supply of clean spoons. And even after you've washed all of the spoons and you're prepared to tackle a new day... you may realize that you don't actually own that many spoons in the first place.
Saw a meme depicting ‘Spoons’ as spell slots. And that makes sense too. Shower is a lvl 5 spell, the slot is empty but you have 4 1st levels availble. So. Maybe just getting up is one. And you need a longer rest to replenish the level 5s. Whatever. I don’t play dnd but I do carve spoons, so I don’t know shit.
The one issue with spoon theory is that with enough discipline and the right kind of mind, you really can just create more and more spoons. When I had my baby, through 72 hours of induced labour, including a 6 hour nonstop contraction due to a bad response to syntocin, it helped realise that there is literally no limit to the spoons I can find. But it starts to hurt when you're carving them out of your own body.
I think that heavily depends on the person and their situation. A person who has depression or anxiety might not be able to just create more spoons where as someone who has great mental health might be able to do that easily.

I used to play spoons with my High School girlfriend's family. I always won because I had an innocent looking face

The only spoon there, looks like the spoon that just lays in the drawer amongst the others, not ever being used.

Also, importantly, people with mental health issues or chronic illnesses get considerably fewer spoons to start with each day.
