I'm utterly sick of the various types of fuckwits I see on the road, practically every day. Tonight I witnessed some moron in front of me turning into a train station car park. It was a quiet road, and always is, and it's a regular 90-degree corner on a 30mph road, and this twatmonger in a Vauxhall Corsa (small car, not a brick) swung right out into the oncoming lane (two cars on it, both of which had to brake) just to turn the corner. They weren't even going fast, so it's not as though they had to get a little more of a swing going on. Worst part was, there was a guy with two kids (maybe 6 and 8) walking on the other side of the road towards traffic (like you're supposed to when there's no pavement) and if those two oncoming cars had swerved to avoid twatface, they'd likely have killed one or more of the pedestrians.
I wish people would learn to drive PROPERLY, and continue to do so, rather than just learn to drive and end up doing whatever the fuck they want.
Also hate:
1. Folk who don't indicate at roundabouts
2. Folk who don't even fucking LOOK when they get to a roundabout and keep driving
3. Folk who pull out in front of you from a junction, even though there's nothing behind you, and go slow as arse
4. The folk in a pale blue metallic Hyundai who drove at 25mph on a 60mph road for 47 fucking minutes when there's nowhere safe to overtake, causing a huge tailback
5. Egg white
6. Folk who don't register the fact that you flashing your lights a dozen times when they're sitting at a junction and you come to a stop means you're letting them out, and who then laugh as they casually pull out... and stall the car (happens far too often)
7. How they've made Irn Bru taste shite over the past twenty years
Cat tacks
BaronVonnChickenPants
That's apparently how they used to teach it 4 or 5 decades ago.
Derfalke
I have to keep an extra eye out on my commute because dipshits can't keep in their own lane on a 2 lane turn. Turn at 90 degrees, agh!
SW4GGY
I also wish people would learn have to drive. Don't wobble all over the place folks. You need to get that power slide clean!

HellYeti
You ever seen that seven lane roundabout in Paris? That's some scary shit!
Noworkonlyimgur
GOOD FUCKING RANT! See that feels good.
HellYeti
It did. I could have gone on, but figured that'd leave folk with nothing to say in response :)
GoodLordHowUncouth
Rory, is that you bro?
HellYeti
Hercule?!
Chrizzlephaa
You and I are kindred spirits @op may I also add lorries who drive in a conga line on a roads leaving no chance to overtake!
firefighter26
I'm sorry. There are days when I find myself swinging out in my car while cornering without realizing it. Old habits sometimes die hard. 1/2
raynesdaze
I also hate people who drive with their lights off in fog. THEY ARENT JUST FOR YOU ASSHOLE.
SatanHerself
+1 for the generous use of the word 'folks'
HellYeti
I here folks like that!
dei1c3
Licenses are as easy to get as the prize in a Cracker Jack box. Just like the oil, auto, and insurance lobbies want them to be.
LetsTalkGameDesign
Fun fact: Driving tests no longer require you to indicate at roundabouts. Some people aren't even taught to, anymore.
HellYeti
I failed my first test a year ago because I neglected to indicate off the roundabout as I entered the test centre. Too excited because I...
HellYeti
... thought I'd passed, as I knew I'd done everything correctly, so as we pulled back in to the test centre my mind wandered and I failed.
HellYeti
My driving instructor thought it was unfair and overly picky, and as much as I wanted to have passed, a lapse in concentration is dangerous.
KiaOrafromtheTron
so...people are idiots and this is news to you? just be the driver you want to see on the roads and dont be in such a hurry. getting into a
KiaOrafromtheTron
wreck because you mad is not worth it yo
HellYeti
I'm never in a hurry, but what bothers me is the folk behind me who are, and who almost cause accidents because of the folk up front, sadly.
LozzieBiscuits
Agree with you on all points but especially the Irn Bru.
HellYeti
Right? Used to have a little kick to it, like ginger beer, and a sort of tanginess. Now it's just sickly-sweet and syrupy.
LozzieBiscuits
Aye, I don't ever buy it anymore.
DaenerysStormbornoftheHouseTargaryen
I enjoy the terminology in this rant. Knew roundabout for traffic circle, junction and tailback are new to me. +1 cause I learned something.
HellYeti
Oh wow, really? Where you from? Tailback is a basic queue and a junction is when you're leaving one road to join another and have to stop
Lapcat
Guessing from "traffic circle" probably from the US, and probably the Midwest.
Lapcat
So, if I understand correctly, junction = intersection and tailback is what we would refer to as a traffic jam
DaenerysStormbornoftheHouseTargaryen
I'm from NY actually but yes, I'd say traffic jam and intersection.
Spadey
You mean there was a time Irn Bru wasn't shite? Man I wanna know what that's like.
HellYeti
Late 1970s; it had a bit of a bite to it, and a tang. No discernible flavour to speak of, but just a very different experience to others.
WittyNerdReference
I've come to the conclusion driving is far harder for post people than I'd assumed. Going to the grocer shouldn't nearly kill me each day.
HellYeti
Honestly, I think it's complacency. People THINK they're good, so they keep paying less attention because they don't think they have to.
WittyNerdReference
"Driving must be hard" is my sarcastic way of dealing with these drivers. Can't decide if overly nervous or overly blasé drivers are worse.
HellYeti
I can deal with nervous drivers fine, as I have a lot of patience. It's those folk who floor it as they approach a roundabout... ugh
Distractedlurker
#4 was awfully specific.
HellYeti
There's perhaps seventeen drivers who all cheered and pumped their horns when those people turned down a country lane off the main road 1/
HellYeti
She was in front of me, so I got a good look - woman in her 30s, dog in the passenger seat, and she was petting it and playing with it.

I drive vans A LOT for various firms that I freelance for and poor motorway etiquette is the main reason i'm campaigning for all cars to be

Fuck you ,you don't know the struggle of the long wheel base
BastardMan1977
Jesus man, maybe you need to sit down and take a break
HellYeti
I tend to sit when I type, actually
abeardedblacksmith
Another one I hate is when they come to a near-complete stop to make a turn off the roadway.
HellYeti
Or when they come to a complete stop at an entirely empty roundabout. They exist to keep the flow of traffic moving safely, ffs.
jrhawk42
Here's my take on everything. I've got no problem w/ swinging out but for fuck sake stay in your lane. 1-7 is listed below.
jrhawk42
1. Trust nothing at a roundabout. Not even the road signs. Everything is anarchy in disguise.
jrhawk42
4. OMG tailbacks are the worst... if 2+ people are behind you either speed up or pull over.
jrhawk42
3. If somebody does one shitty thing they'll pile on several shitty things just to compensate so that first thing seems less shitty.
jrhawk42
6. Never flash your lights to let somebody in... give them the opportunity to get in & if they fail to take advantage that's on them.
HellYeti
I'm having a flashing neon sign installed on my roof that just says "FUCKING GO... NOW!!" and hope that does the trick.
jrhawk42
7. No clue who that is, mate. I'm sure he's a cunt though.
jrhawk42
2. These people are the reasons you don't trust anything at a roundabout (see response 1).
jrhawk42
5. Egg whites are a crucial part of the egg experience... there's a special place in hell for people that insist on only the whites.
skipweasel
No. 4 got me all the way from Alpraham to Whitchurch the other day. Yes, it was raining. No, it wasn't necessary to drive at 25mph.
HellYeti
This was from Largs, all the way to Johnstone (19 miles) and it took 47 minutes on a beautiful dry day. Still, at least her dog had fun.
skipweasel
Sat on the parcel shelf, nodding at you? It's a lovely road though - I've not been that way for a while.
HellYeti
In the passenger seat, being played with and petted the entire time, hence her ridiculously slow speeds. Got that drive again tomorrow :)
skipweasel
Do you have a harpoon?
HellYeti
A man can dream. Almost every day, I think back fondly to my days in the arcades playing RoadBlasters. And I weep.
