Republicans have hijacked and manipulated Christianity for political purposes; ruining it for so many people. I recently embraced my spiritual side and am finding the true teachings of Christ couldn't be further than what Republicans claim them to be.
Downvote if you must. Just wanted to share a different point of view.
Quote is from Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, author of the Narnia books.

This is not the whole story. In the same passage Lewis highlighted elements of a Christian society anathemic to a leftist philosophy. His point was that Christian behavior transcends politics

Right, religion can be hijacked to influence the faithful to do pretty much anything including actions well outside what their faith considers to be acceptable.

That's not 'hijacking' that's working as intended. Keep them dumb & keep them controllable.

I have no problem with people being christian, I do with people in any way promoting it. Keep it the fuck to yourself.
MajorNikon
The problem with people who promote it is most of them can't tolerate dissenting views.

*A problem...

Think its more the Evangelists, but ho hum
OddlyPacific
The Catholics I know are all Reaganists who will never vote blue because they hate abortion and helping poor people so much.
JustFeedMePieDammit
Pentecostals, baptists, Catholics in the states at least. I know here in Aus the Pentecostal churches frequently dabble in politics and conspiracy as well

The same god that committed multiple genocides against people?
cosinewave
Yep, that one but most don't like to admit it

As stated, this affirms the existence and causal efficacy of the Christian god. If you’re a materialist, you should rethink this phrasing.

I don't know if he exists or not. I just know if he does exist he's scum that is undeserving of worship.

“God” could be anything. Why support an ugly theology? I’d say atheism would keep your ire focused where it should be.
