Your build is not balanced as all things should be.

Former xbox gamer friend of mine recently bought a gaming laptop.. Asked me which hdmi cable he needed to increase his fps...
Leithreas
So buy a better monitor. You can get to 144hz for like $150.
tooomanystevesgotbanned
Anything over 75hz is a waste.
Mnethses
had to explain this to a friend a few months back. he wanted to put in 3k, all in the tower.
DarthFutuza
I'd rather put it in the tower personally, 60fps is fine, I'd rather be able to compile things in 2 seconds instead of 20.
Mnethses
lol if you're talking compile time then you're talking two different applications; not to say that you're wrong in your case.
DarthFutuza
Must game, but also must compile. I ever fight an uphill battle with my wallet and desired pc specs.
AdmiralButtStuff
Hz and FPS aren't 1:1 but... yeah.... I just did a big upgrade on my computer and the monitor is what's holding it back now.
Yamioni7
They don't have to be 1:1, but unless the framerate is an integer multiple of the refresh rate, you'll have tearing.
AdmiralButtStuff
Right. So anyone only worried about 1 of the 2 is in for a bad time, which was my point. Also my monitor sucks.
SaturnineCult
Umm what? Care to explain how they are not 1:1?
SaturnineCult
Since obviously it's not clear to people, 1 Hz=1 FPS. It doesn't matter if you say your GPU pumps 40Hz or your monitor is 60fps. Both right.
Spinbot11
Fps is how many frames the gpu can pump out per second. Refresh rate is what the monitor can display per second.
Spinbot11
If the frames are not synced up right you can get tearing.
SaturnineCult
They're the same thing.. 60fps is 60hz, doesn't matter if it's gpu draw rate, or monitor refresh rate. It's not that hard.

SaturnineCult
Where does this article say that 60fps is NOT 60hz? Why are you linking unrelated stuff?
AdmiralButtStuff
LTT has done some videos on this, but the TL;DR: is that it's only 1:1 on paper. in practice there's dozens of variables.
SaturnineCult
No. FPS use unit of Hz, which mean cycles per second. If there's a tiny variation in syncing gpu and screen, is totally unrelevant.
AdmiralButtStuff
FPS does not "use unit of Hz." FPS is a unit. Hz is a unit. They are both units of a thing occurring over a specific time.
SaturnineCult
What part of "frames per second" you don't get?
AdmiralButtStuff
And bullshit. Depending on how big or small those variations are it absolutely matters. That's why G-sync and V-sync exist.
SaturnineCult
Frame rate changes due to differing amounts or gpu load, are again totally irrelevant to this.
