We had to have an emergency C-section. The umbilical cord was wrapped around her twice while still in the womb.
This our second child and due to the emergent nature and some complications it's our last.
Six pounds and four ounces and 100% lungs!
Finally got to hold our baby girl, Harper
yogurtgoblin

Modern medicine can perform miracles. Best wishes for Harper and her entire family!
boobiesarelifetho
Definitely. My twins wouldn'tve made it without it. They were breech and I wasn't progressing in my labor, had a csection, collapsed lungs.
boobiesarelifetho
And they were early, so they spent a month in nicu on a CPAP, oxygen, and feeding tube. But they made it.
tomattow
Congrats

Better than a NY accent. “Hor-paa”

Shouldn't the baby be violet?
feedusfetus
She was. They had her on oxygen for about ten minutes. Between the wife being sewn up and holding the newborn’s hand, pics were limited
NascarGal
Glad it all turned out okay. Congratulations.
someragrets2013
Love that name it’s my kiddos middle name. Congrats!!!

Why cant parents name their children decent names, and if they do pick a name that sounds good why do they then spell it like a total retard
incogneetoe88

I was also an emergency baby, umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck and the doctor was pulling me out by my legs!
CardioVascular
That scares me just reading that and knowing you lived.
AlaskanMatt
My wife and I had a scary moment and cesarean as well. Hearing my son cry the first time was the single greatest sound I’ve ever heard.
feedusfetus
We had our kid in Fairbanks. Nice to see another Alaskan!
Delathi
My wife had a scheduled C-section, during it, the doc said the cord was wrapped around the neck 2 times, "Was gonna be a C-section anyway!"

Better than this? https://youtu.be/hi6BapQfLX4

It's not even close. Bacon has never made me weep- or use old time language for that matter.
blacktemplar187
I’m pretty sure I cried worse than my son did when they cut him out of my wife.
AlaskanMatt
Haha I hear you my friend. I tear up just thinking about it.
Noahy503
Little shit is already throwing gang signs.
Dujet1990
Im a respiratory therapist in a NICU and we get babies that aren't breathing initially and go straight on a vent one of the best parts
AlaskanMatt
Thank you for all you do.
SociallyAwkwardCanadianMoose
I was in NICU and my parents talked about how strange it was not being able to hold me
AlaskanMatt
As a parent I can’t hardly imagine how hard it was for them. Glad to hear you’re still with us
Dujet1990
Of my job is extabating a baby after they've been on the vent for a few days or even weeks sometimes and seeing the parents reaction to that
Dujet1990
First cry. Ive been doing it for years with hundreds of babies and it still gets me every time.
feedusfetus
I’m glad it’s over. I asked to please never fuckin do that again (=
AlaskanMatt
I’m happy to hear all is well.
Metadonmixer
We had an emergency c-sec too. Doc fought to get her breathing afterwds. Said he was glad he had 20 yrs exp. Scariest moment ever...
AlaskanMatt
Sounds horrifying. Hope everything and everyone turned out okay.
Theuselessone
Congrats on becoming a parent welcome to hell

Theuselessone

PhoneticRainbow
Cherish these baby moments, they don’t last forever and you’ll wish they did
VInTheSkyWithElephants
Mine is 3mo old and already I miss how small she was!!
Lastcentura
I had an emergency c section tell your wife she is amazing, alot of people think c sections are the easy way out its so hard
cre8majic
not fun, during or after... pretty scary and unsettling
Lastcentura
It sure is , took them 3 hours to get me numb they never went out and told my husband or mother what was happening the whole-
Lastcentura
3 hours , when he walked into the op room i started crying cause i was so afried and alone
cre8majic
ours was after 30 hours of labor, then the screeching gurney ride to the OR, huge puddles of blood on the floor
feedusfetus
Thanks for the well wishes. Have a kickass Saturday!
Weedies617
Lol blur the adult face out, but the child had no choice lol. Our kids are on the internet also, just busting ur chops. Glad everyone is ok.
Heavenissize17socks
So young and yet so loud! Your girl is beautiful! Well done!

Congrats!!! Seems like you handled the situation well

Would it wrapped around the necksimply prevent a natural birth by being to short to allow the kid to reach the exit?
PhoneticRainbow
From my experience it’s dangerous because as the baby is coming through the birth canal the blood supply is cut off, not the length of cord
thelivemikec
The umbilical chord is like a bungee chord. As it stretches it gets taut so it’ll choke the baby as they try to come out as well.
thelivemikec
My son had a short chord and no one was aware. We had an emergency c-section as well because he couldn’t come out. Kept flatlining.
BiomechPhoenix
Those are some frightful bloodstains in the first picture. I was worried until I saw the second one and the description. Congratulations.
DoesntMatterHadSnuSnu
Up to 1L of blood loss is normal in a caesarean here, so it can look pretty insane and still be okay.
SirSciencewastaken
Ever seen what happens when a horse sneezes with a nose bleed?
dogbeachesarethebestbeaches
I've seen births where all the staff troop in wearing white wellie boots cos there's so much shit and blood on the floor.
mirrelle
Is it blood or blood and fluid? When they cut me open it was apparently like a waterfall.
mirrelle
(But mainly fluid)
feedusfetus
I had never seen a C-section before but it looked like they were rearranging her insides.
BiomechPhoenix
I am pretty sure that's at least part of what they do in that situation. I'm glad she and your child are both safe.
feedusfetus
I have to fill out those forms to nominate employees who went above and beyond. I’m going to make sure everyone gets one
