Read this if you were forced to read Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn in school. This is told from Jim’s perspective and was easily the best book of 2024. Won the National Book Award.
“But I don’t remember anything about Tom Sawyer” ME NEITHER! Doesn’t matter. Read it!

Read this for a better understanding of being Asian in American and the “roles” Asians are forced to play. Written like a screenplay. One of my favorites of all time.

Read this as long as you’re cool with no quotations and standard punctuation. The writing is so good you won’t realize it. Won the Pulitzer and one of the best stories I’ve ever read.

Read this for a story about slaves escaping through a literal Underground Railroad…more to it than that but great read.

Read this…..just read this. Black family in rural south with hurricane katrina looming…she is such a great writer.

Read this if you’re looking for something raw and honest with great characters.

Read this if you’ve never read Baldwin. Relatively short and beautiful story.

Read this for a a story that is deep in life philosophy but cold honest and relatively smooth in events.

Read this if you’re a comic book fan (or not) looking for a good novel. It’s long but so worth it!

Read this for a fascinating ethical ride and if you’re looking for a good short read to get into reading.

From the same author as James above…loved this one even more. Read this for a funny and sad take on being a black author in America.

Read this if you’ve made it this far and thought “BUT I WANT MORE BOOKS ABOUT WOMEN GOING THROUGH PERIMENOPAUSE AND NEED LOTS OF EXPLICIT SEX IN MY NOVELS”. This book was great.

Read this for a relatively short and beautiful read…I’m not sure any summary would accurately cover the beauty in this one.

Read this if you reeeeeally want to catch up on classic books but you reeeeeally don’t have a lot of time. My copy is under 100 pages. You can do that!

Read this for a classic 60s tale of pool hustlers, boxers, etc and the complexity of their lives. This one came out in the 60s but fell out of print and is now having a strong revival thanks to booktubers and booktokkers spreading the word.

Read this if you want a story with a good twist and maybe less literary fiction than the ones above. Easy read.

Read this for a journey of one man in a hospital through COVID days and his relationship with his husband, the nurses around him, being a poet….its beautiful. #books
