Too Pure for this world...

Today I wanted to illustrate why we typically use Sterling and not Pure silver. You can sort of see it here but I had to make a video to properly illustrate: https://youtu.be/vntDiJ68yuA

The next picture should show the issue well;

You can see on the left side there how its bent. That just came about because pure silver is so soft and despite the fine craftsmanship, and the relatively thick material, its still so soft it just bends with regular use.

The reason sterling is used;

Is because its an alloy of 92.5% silver (where we get the 925 mark from), with the remaining metal usually being copper, sometimes nickel or other metals, but usually copper.

This adds strength and resilience to the piece, and basically makes it usable without you accidently bending it all the time.
