Peter F Hamilton: wrote the first episode of Love, Death & Robots, but his BIG sellers are: The Night's Dawn trilogy and Commonwealth Saga which are a combination of Epic Scale story telling and sheer amazing character creation.
Miss Spent Youth and Fallen Dragon are two stand alone storys that give you a brief idea of what your getting into when you start done this path

Speaking of "Servitors" i love how the language is steeped in religous iconography and terminology. You dont have a Job, you have Rituals. You dont serve time you serve a Pennance. Like the Spanish inquisition never ended. Scary AF.

I have several of the video games and that is simply not true. Its filthy and and broken down and they mention it many times within the stories. Of course this depends on what planet you're on of course.
