... folks, FOLKS! Please let's maintain our civility and not resort to this kind of language, "skiing in jeans" is just outright vulgar.

I snowboarded in jeans my first time. It was cold. I have not snowboarded since.
maincarrot
wear snow pants over your jeans.
VeryMoistTowelettes
He also eats his steak well-done with ketchup. He really is the worst person.

I hear this sequel has been in development hell since '75.

That is a very Canadian insult!
NoChute
My mom used to ski in jeans when she was a teen. It’s a good motivator to not fall. This was in Colorado though so not as cold, probably.
DanTheStanMan
We have the same insult in Colorado, so maybe...

Jeans in snow are very cold and uncomfortable. It’s a Canadian version of “too dumb to come in from the rain.”
So that's not something you'd say to your buddy, right guy

Where I'm from people who ski in jeans are called gapers.

Equivalent of New Yorkers saying he eats pizza with a knife and fork (which he actually does)

Neapolitan pizza often requires knife and fork! But, yes, New York pizza certainly does not
restlessinchicago
To be fair, in Chicago, you do
AhhhThisStinks
pshhhh that ain't pizza
AahzAndArthurDent
Why?

Jeans absorb moisture to easily. You fall in the snow with jeans you’ll be wet all day
Oh. I've never been snowboarding or skiing so I didn't know.
It’s just a Canadian way of saying someone is too dumb to survive.

Cotton stops neither wind nor water. It’s a recipe to freeze when skiing
As a Floridian, I just never thought twice about it. Thanks for changing my mind everyone.
PhiIIipJFry
It's ok if you ski on a warm day and never fall over.
i've been skiing in jeans all my life - but i wear snow pants over top. i just don't have anything else to wear as pants, so... 1/2
i think it's silly to go skiing in -20c in bare jeans. just wear snow pants, what you wear underneath is up to you. 2/2
DestroyerBravo
If (let's face it when) you eat shit on the mountain and get snow on your pants, instead of falling off they get soaked. Wet is bad in cold.
the snow* falling off
Barkinsons
It's just tacky and cotton is a bad choice of fabric in the snow
Happydragun4now
They get caked and basically become ice pants that don't bend, plus your gonna freeze
ImAFuckingCreep
The way I look at it is that jeans while skiing is just the wrong gear for the activity. Shows you are quiet possibly so inexperienced you(1
Are probably a danger to everyone around you. Kind of like a dirt biker wearing no helmet or Donald Trump in the white house.
OldSchool90
After working at a ski resort, I find the dudes skiing in jeans are ballers that are messing around, huckin backflips n shiz
ThisShieRightHereNi666
Everything.
I ask as a Floridian.
People who do that are considered mostly as ignorant asshat show offs.
Mostly for practical reasons. You fall, jeans get wet cold and heavy. Then you sit on a lift and the wet cold jeans freeze to the seat etc.
Thank you. I don't think I've ever really skiied in a place without manufactured snow.
WTF.. (welcome to Finland) ;)
PrinceSatisfactory
It's pretty classless. Winter sports are more of a khaki or corduroy activity
Wait. For real? Like people get judged for lack of corduroy?
Oh yeah, lots of judgement on the slopes. If your belt and wrist watch don't coordinate with your ski boots, gonna get some angry stares
Lol. I assume your cravat needs to match too?
Well that goes without saying
anitabieror6
wow. it never occurred to me to judge someone's class by what pants they wear when they do it
EndersGameofThrones
Since cheap snow pants could be bought for $25 its a pretty safe bet that someone is a newb or a poser if they ski in jeans.
Oh yeah man. If you walk into a random lecture and the professor's wearing high-waters, that's a STEM class. Skinnies, usually humanities
And if they're wearing shorts they could be teaching whatever class they damn well please bc they have tenure an no longer give a shit
Pyrohawk
As a person who has never skied...why is that wrong? Isn't jeans the standard for cold weather? And what should you wear instead?
RandomImgurian
Jeans are definitely not the standard for cold weather, unless you and I have different understandings of cold. Also, jeans aren't great in
snow since they're made of cotton, so they'll just get really wet really quick and then you'll just have wet soggy pants.
Hmmm. I mean yeah, that's true they do get wet after a while. But that's what we always wore as kids to go sledding...
If we were going to be out for a long time we'd put overalls over top. But still.
