Obligatory Edit: shit y’all, Most Viral for this?
I’m ok, just going through some rough times. Thanks for all the kind words. Send stuff?
Edit #2: read the comments. Don’t worry, I’m off my meds under doctor supervision. I’m considered treatment-resistant, having tried 20+ different medications. On January 5th I had my first round of ECT - second round is tomorrow. It’s scary as heck, but I’m hoping it helps.
If y’all want a post on ECT, let me know.

depression

My favourite is when you’re lacking dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin and you realise that no exercise can balance it out with endorphins.

#3 is called a cuddle date, and it’s satisfying to just hold someone for hours like that sometimes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I really like cymbalta. Wish I would have dealt with this shit in high school.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Jesus, #5 hits way too fucking close to home. Thank god my husband is so understanding.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

These were too accurate. I’m glad I’m not alone. I hope you have good people to support you @op

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

#28 right? My body isn't producing a chemical that i need to function properly. Nobody gets concerned at a diabetic taking insulin.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm sad (Sucking A Dick)

the point of anti depressants is to slow down before u stop.... otherwise youll get backlash

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pretty depressing dump

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like to read the shirt as " I told the rapist about you " instead

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was misdiagnosed with Severe Chronic Depression in September 2914, they kept upping my dosages of Abilify and Escitalopram until I (1/?)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Wow you're from the future?! 897 years later and they still can't treat this stuff?! But seriously though that sucks I hope you've improved.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Dropped out of college and moved back home, where I was diagnosed with a super rad case of Bipolar Disorder type II and learned that (2/?)

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The meds I was on made my symptoms so much worse..

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Are you sure you’re not me?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*hugs* hang in there, friend. This shit is tough, but we're tougher. Hit me up if you want to chat :)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

my little sister started taking anti depressants and i think it's making her more unpredictable. she doesn't have mental health issues 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

as far as I know, like a chemical imbalance, but her Dr. gave her some cuz she asked. she's acting real erratic lately. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Damn now I really want spirited blow jobs and tacos

8 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 1

Ditto.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tell me about it! Probably have to date a dude for that.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

And yet, somehow, I’m still single ????

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe give more tacos?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mmm tacos.

My experience with clinical depression was a bit weird. Went to the doctor to get sleeping pills because I couldn't sleep 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

After asking me a few questions he said maybe I had depression. I didn't really know what that meant for me though. 2/?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never really felt particularly down or sad or anything, but I realised I was generally more pissed off at everything 3/?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Internally I was blaming my wife for everything that went wrong and being mean to her over the most minor things. 4/?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

SSRIs had an instant impact. Weird thing is that they didn't make me feel anything, as in I couldn't feel them working except through 5/?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

retrospective self reflection. After a year or so I tapered off the drugs and have only had a couple of minor episodes since.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m treatment resistant too, @OP, but after 10 years of trial and error, I finally found a combo that is working well for me... until...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

... it doesn’t anymore. Hang in there, You’re not alone in this fight. My best to you.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Zoloft, effexor, viibryd, prozac, wellbutrin, trintellix, and now lexapro which is making me fucking hibernate. Hate my fucking brain.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Meme dump of a Cluster B personality disorder person... Could be CPTSD thought. GOOGLE THAT SHIT YO!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's actually Bipolar 2, OCD, GAD, and "other stressor and/or trauma related disorder" which is basically baby PTSD.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Me too. Bipolar 2, GAD, MDD, BPD, ru. Did you check out CPTSD? "Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Check out Pete Walker. He wrote and awesome book called "From Surviving to Thriving". The Spartan Life Coach has been really helpful for me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bipolar depressive over here.Found this pic recently https://imgur.com/15CXFsr n it's been helping me.Msg if you ever need some1 to lean on.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I also have Bipolar 2. Carrie is my idol. ????????

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So you're bipolar and in a depressive phase? I've never heard it referred to that way but it could explain why it's abbreviated to bpd

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I usually see bpd and thing borderline personality disorder cuz clinically bipolar is usually just referred to as bipolar I or II

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've seen it both ways, too. My b if I'm fuckn up

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How it was explained to me is type 1=more manic episodes, type 2=more depressive. I'm type 2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh gotcha. Well that's technically not wrong. In assessment we look at it in scope of just the mania so I've never thought of it that way

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#1 Is no joke. Weaned myself off of Lexapro and the withdrawal was miserable: Dizziness, feeling like I was falling, (1)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

twitching eyes when turning my head, and a whooshing noise in my ears when turning my head. These took a month to taper off. (2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I’m glad I took drugs for anxiety. It helped me gain confidence in handling my shit and counseling taught me to cope, but never again. (3/3)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had brain zaps for 4 months after stopping lexapro. Still trying to decide if life is better on or off. I can sympathize with this mind.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I had a bout of depression in undergrad. 15 min conversation with a psych and she gave me 2mnths supply of lexapro. The constant sleeping1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And emotionally numb feelings gave me suicidal thoughts. I had to stop taking them.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm so glad I'm not the only one.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m on my second week of weaning off lexapro after 5 solid years on it, been really spaced out for a week now.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I wish a comfortable experience for you. I did a very gradual step down. Perseverance may be needed, knowing one dose will fix your short /

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Term situation. It’s really rough. Good luck though. It’s possible, you can do it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've read that switching first to Prozac, then weaning, is helpful, because Prozac stays in your system longer than lexapro.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's rough, I sympathize. Done it twice

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I’m hesitant to even start taking my lexapro. Getting off of it sounds worse than not being on anything

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For me and some others, lexapro isn’t the answer. Some people have a much better reaction to it though. It helped me for a short time /

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then I was a slave to it in order to stop the withdrawal symptoms. Almost 7 years of my life I would have lived differently. Good luck to u

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But being on it can have a much larger benefit than not, and easily out-weigh the withdrawal part. Do what you need to do.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Worked great for me for several years. Coming off of it after I was more stable was still uncomfortable, but absolutely worth the gains

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

After two years of different meds, they have me on diazepam (valium) for two months to wait for the citalopram to work. Lost my job, but 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some say it's better to lost my job than lose my life. I disagree, and would rather say "then" in that sentence. Valium has helped, though.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Citalopram really helped me get my shit together. Got a promotion, moved to another country, got married. But I gained 35 lbs.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you need to talk to someone I'm here and ready to listen @OP :)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Deciding to try taking meds was literally the best decision of my life. I’m a human again! Cipralex and Wellbutrin are the shit

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It feels good to be able to handle your shit. Lexapro was the best choice I ever made. Fuck you, anxiety.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuuuccckk. These all hit to close to home.. wanna de depressive in the dark with me op? I have.. cats

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

BPD can be managed and stabilized with therapy. There are places you can go if you don't have insurance. Don't let it kill you

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Borderline is almost always better treated that way

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Where do I find people who need to suck dick for their mental health?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I used to lol. I needed to feel wanted, I guess. It was the easiest way to do that.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah I've tried to use sex to fill the void. The problem is I'm not attractive and I'm a dude

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yea that'll make it tough. But it'll probably be best for you in the long run. No regrets and such

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean... You interested in a throwback sesh?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've got a pretty good handle on my depression now lol. Haven't had to take any dicks down my throat these days ahah

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Weak

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Weak! I mean good for you.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lmao I apologize for the inconvenience

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I skip Effexor for a day and it fucks me up. Coming off them completely will involve the wards.

8 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

It took me a year of gradual reduction to come off Effexor. And now I’m on them again, I don’t know if I’ll ever be off them truth be told.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Used to take effexor; missed a day once and I thought I was gonna die. No withdrawals while quitting cuz I weaned slowly over a few months.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Effexor has one of the worst withdrawal syndromes. Discontinuation involves very slow dose tapering or using another SSRI as bridge

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Absolutely. Effexor is a wonder drug but you will learn that you are a slave to it. All I can say is I better always have medical insurance!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah thank fuck for free medical services here. My local hospital knows me by name and my file is at least an inch thick lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s nuts. My meds are slow releasing, so it takes a while for them to have effect but no major consequences if I miss a day or 2.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I came off Effexor with a therapist who didn't believe withdrawal was "that bad". Took 6 weeks to feel stable again.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Same thing happened to me. I lost weight because I could only drink water and eat toast everything else made me feel sick.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My psych has me on a 6 month plan to go from 150mg to 37.5 with prozac for the last month. It’s not simple.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

My psych had me go from 225mg to 0 in 6 weeks. I was hearing voices and kept crying at work.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My psych acts like 40mg is as high as we can go and is borderline too much. I had no idea it was possible to go that high. 1/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did it work for you? Why did you stop taking it?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm currently on 150mg a day and that's as high as we will go. We will reduce it as I lose weight because I've had serotonin issues before.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Its doing great for my panic episodes, but not so for the depression. Diet helps wit h depression most of the time, but the panic was horrid

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Effexor does indeed work but ive never taken a more unforgiving drug. I hate the thought of having to come off it just for the side effects

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Eat a balanced diet (not fad healthy), Drink more water, Sleep enough (at night). Exercise more, get enough sunlight, take vitamins.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

The reason this is getting downvotes is it’s assuming people haven’t tried it. It makes taking drugs seem like a cop out. 1/

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I did all of these things and still had crippling anxiety. When I went on Lexapro, I had people saying to try those things harder. 2/

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It made me feel embarrassed and weak. Diet, exercise, and sleep don’t fix chemical imbalances. Sometimes drugs and therapy are needed.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Dunno why were downvoted; sleep, nutrition, and exercise are fucking basic needs of mental health. Mess with'em and it's an uphill struggle.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Like most facts that people dont like, circle jerk and defensive. They assume im attacking when its info people overlook.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because to me (as a person who has struggled with severe anxiety) this assumes I haven’t tried that already, and it’s frustrating.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Drugs and therapy are most effective for mental illness. I did them both, and had more success than all the exercise and healthy eating.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Jumped from Paxil, Wellburtin, Zoloft, and Effexor. Worst experience(s) of my life being off and on trying to find the right one. Withdrawl>

8 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 0

Effexor was the worst for me when it came to withdrawal, luckily I started taking Trintellix and it helps immensely.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't take antibiotics depressants, they make me a lot worse, so I have to live with depression and anxiety. Not sure if crippling or not

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Effexor is the Devil. Lexapro is really good, for me at least. Added Wellbutrin and thats also helped a lot

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

had to quit my zoloft cold turkey cause i moved and couldn’t find a doc taking patients. it was real neato

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Brain zaps = worst

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Posts like these always make me thankful that the first antidepressant I was prescribed worked well enough for me. Stay strong everybody.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Jesus, Paxil and Wellbutrin have both had colossal problems haven't they?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I as on citalopram (Celexa) for years, now on venlafaxin (Effexor). When I forget meds my nightmares make horror movies look like Disney.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just want to add to this - don't quit your meds cold turkey. Talk to a doctor/specialist, try different types of therapy. This was just >

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Seconded. I got fed up that my meds weren't working after 5 months and stopped taking. The less said about the following weeks the better.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

my personal experience. By no means am I demonizing anti-depressants.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

No this is just good sense.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Paxil and efexor are the worst drugs when it comes to withdrawwal symptoms. Psychiatrists jokingly call efexor side(efexor)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The brain zaps are the worst!!

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

This is my reminder that I missed my meds.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Effexor related brain zaps ????????????

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Seriously. My doctor had never heard of them and did a neuro exam to make sure I was ok when I mentioned having them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Started with Paxil, but stopped because it made me fat. Moved to Wellbutrin and got the weight off, but I don’t think it’s as effective.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I can be fat and happy or thin and miserable.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Btdt. Paxil is the worst for weight gain. On cymbalta for years now, lost the weight.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I ballooned up without any change to diet or exercise and my doctor kept insisting it wasn’t the pills because that only affects 1/4 users.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guess I’m 1/4. I’ll ask about that next time I’m in, though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had to stop taking my lexapro because it would interact with my temporary medication. It's been 3 weeks and these withdraws still suck.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It took about 4-6 weeks for the symptoms to go away when I stopped taking Lexapro. It’s been 7 mo now and no issues for me. Stay strong!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it’s been like over two months and they occasionally still sneak up on me. sorry you’re having a rough time. it’ll get better in time

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know how it feels, I was overseas and missed one day of my lexapro, then at 4 pm, I felt tingling, cold-sweating, and anxious

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup, Zoloft, Viibryd, Wellbutrin, and now Prozac, all coupled with anti anxieties. Apparently only sketchy docs prescribe Xanax now.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But I found that I was not ok when I was off. Even when I think I’m better off w/o, have to stay on, otherwise I had to start all over.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's a rough road, my friend..

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stay the fuck away from Xanax bro. It's just going to make things worse in the long run. Addictive as shit with diminishing returns.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly. My new psychiatrist has me on basically heart rate meds to slow my heart when I panic. Non addictive, unlike Xanax.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They call Xanax, “alcohol in pill form”

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Killed my soul and meds made me a zombie. (This may not be the case for others, always ask your doctor) but I found living with my >

8 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Mental illness was tolerable compared to being on medication.

8 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

i have done similar- was doing great then fell in love with a soul crushing manipulator

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Effexor wtihdrawl is no joke

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Paxil is like electricity pulsing your brain to the point of wanting to pass out. They all suck, really.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Effexor is terrifying.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So far everything I've taken had just taken the edge off. Still feel like shit, but not as shit. Pretty much let's me somewhat function.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same. Weekly Psychotherapy for the win.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm at that awkward stage where I'm not happy with my side effects on meds, have horrendous months of withdrawal but I can't be medfree

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I started on medication 2 days ago. What the fuck have I gotten myself into...

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The response to psyh meds is trial & err. until hopefully one works. Response just begins to show after taking them for 2 weeks minimum. 1/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Switching takes 2 weeks to get the previous out before staring another that will not do anything for 2 or more weeks. It can be rough but 2/

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A lot of it is trial and error. If you feel you’re on the wrong one, don’t hesitate to call your doctor and try something new

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is how I felt too. It was quite a miserable experience... never felt normal during any of it, just varying levels of crazy.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

The mania was the worst, and its still to this day incredibly hard to describe the emptiness the medication made me feel as well.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

When I was on it I thought my worsening symptoms meant I needed a higher dosage. Turns out they were symptoms of the meds.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It was almost like losing the ability to react to... everything. I burned what I was cooking, oh okay. I got an A on my exam, oh okay.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
