Never had account with them in the first place

Don't worry imgur also had ice advertisements too
UserNamesArentEasy
Refuse to listen on Spotify, as it's always garbage.
Fadetoblack021
Live sporting events (like UFC, who is literally hosting a White House MMA event) are also doing that.

When you're surrounded by the Fortune 500 companies where we get most of our consumable goods and entertainment. They're all bad. Are we going to stop using all of them?
dootdootiamgroot
I canceled mine and started using qobuz instead a few months back. I dont miss spotify at all and qobuz pays the artists more than spotify
Goatfer
The Border Patrol and the Prison system is constantly advertising on YouTube. Just need to be a man in the right age bracket.
welcometothedystopia
Besides canceling if you were a subscriber - you message the companies advertising on Spotify that you're boycotting them for using Spotify for advertising.
Advertising money dropping off is more powerful from what I read.

I've seen more than a few ice ads on imgur as well
SomeFukinWizard
I haven't. I use ad and information blockers like fPrivacy Badger and Ghostery along with firefox. They dont make shit off of me. I would suggest anybody trying to hit Imgur in the pocket do the same things.
RickHalcyon
This is crazy but if I didn’t cancel my subscription over all that Joe Rogan contract fuss (not a fan!) why am I supposed to be bothered by ads I will never hear? Don’t hate me for the question, I just think it’s a very weird situation.

It is a tricky topic for certain. People can pick their topic of outrage with chopstick-like precision.

What you're willing to accept is up to you. It's your conscience.

A little while ago some imgurian posted about how to migrate from Spotify to similar/better platforms without losing playlists and such. Does anyone happen to have that post saved?

I tried making the switch to Tidal but they botched my account creation on the back end and now I'm locked out. It didn't inspire confidence.
IMakeLotsOfReferencesAndRemakes
Honestly remaking stuff is not too hard even without it. I only learned about tools like that after I was already done setting mine up. But it only took a few hours over a couple nights. Put on a background movie or starter playlist and got to it. But your mileage may vary depending on how tedious you find it or how much you have. Plus I tend to go for radios based on music I like more often than not.
CHARCHIMUS
No, but I've been using pandora for like 15 years and its a far better service all around. In fact I was given a login to spotify from a friend and i tried it out for maybe a day and i just thought it was trash. I also use Tidal for DJ purposes and its pretty awesome. Just google how to transfer playlists, theres a few different ways/services that can do that :)
Sinlok
Ive been using Pandora since it started. Yes, I pay for no adverts for uninterrupted audio.
Linachen
I moved over to Tidal years ago and the from what I hear from others making the change, it has only gotten easier to transfer playlists, favourites, etc.
Afaik Deezer has similar porting options.
There are various step by step guides online for porting your things :)
gschwendt
Qobuz uses a third-party utility, Soundiiz, to transfer your playlists. I switched this summer but it was missing too many QoL features for my taste.

I think Deezer has the option to transfer your spotify favs and such

Don’t do business with Google. They are also running ICE ads, and Israeli propaganda ads. Google is part of the regime. They removed ICE tracking apps from their store.
Clockworkdancerobot
Youtube is not better. They run the same and also ran a bunch of Pro-Trump ads saying how he's doing such a good job. not during an election
NotSomoneElse68
I keep having to reject Pro-Isreal ads. Full on "we need to kill Palestinians because of HAMAS" kind of shit.
SisyphusRollin
You're not alone, with adblock and good bluetooth I got so many youtube playlists (music videos not youtube music) set up and I can hit play and walk away.
NeoAcario
I would do this... save 2 reasons. Adblock doesn't work with the youtubeMusic app... and I primarily use the playlists for when I'm driving / riding my motorcycle. And as a truck driver... I drive a LOT. Plus.. I do actually want the artists to get a little scratch from my views. So I feel I get my money's worth.
SisyphusRollin
Yeah, I have a browser called "Ghost" on my phone that I use for youtube its got built in adblock but its not the best. I respect your angle and understand, I do a lot of chilling around the house with the music or I go for a walk and my phones using ghost.
