Maybe 50 will be better..?

This past year has been the worst of my life (yeah, so far). I turn 50 on the 19th of this month. I've lost more than I can remember on top of everything else - what wasn't, anything else of value has been sold. Nearly even my daughter. My wife's health is permanently getting worse and sometimes it seems her not being around would be better for her; but we both agree she should keep hanging on so long as her kidneys let her.

I've gone to interview after interview, apply to an endless array of jobs, and fight scam after scam. I've applied to program after program - and fighting the process every step of the way without help or assistance to get anywhere. Food stamps alone took two months to nail down. Wife's retirement (SSI) is in progress. Daughter's Disability is in progress. Help from religious organizations require us to be at a Shelter or somewhere other than a hotel, but won't help us get to another place and a Shelter is an impossibility with the medications, mobility issues, and wife being on oxygen - never mind the two joys and service dogs that very much do an excellent job at what they were trained to do for wife & daughter.

As for myself, I have a great Doctor and Credit Union. The doctor has helped me get onto medications to help with things and setting aside payment until later (was told she started getting ME on disability despite my objections & wanting to work). The Credit Union is holding off fees and additional charges while also allowing me to pay off things elsewhere to a negative balance in my two accounts. But in both instances it's just another ticking time bomb waiting to see which will go off first, a lucky break of something finally going through or more problems.

My non-immediate family is scattered across the country, either unable to help, unwilling (a brother - the only one actually doing well), or have done probably more than they should.

I'd start a GoFundMe, but between the negative balance and the time it takes to process, I'm not sure how helpful it would really be. Of course, I don't know anyone that'd donate, and while this community is wonderful I've been gifted so much here already - and not just Pizza's. Everything I've tried only seems to attract scammers or scorn save among a scant few that themselves are half a paycheck from the same position.

So, sorry for the depressing cry into this particular void. But I had to type it where it could be seen.

And, because it's who I am. On the positive side, I AM getting treatment finally for Depression, ADD/ADHD. I keep getting interviews still, and I can still cook, write, and enjoy things now and then - when I am not too stressed about meeting my weekly needs to stay housed. AND, I enjoy seeing others successes here, cry with those in need, and am delighted when they get help. Keep it up & keep going.

And, also, with hope eternal, I'll never turn down help, advice, or a chance to talk - I've done my share of listening to others in their times of need, and know that alone can help.

One of the joys & the only reason I wouldn't be answering things at my computer - I'd likely be in the tiny kitchenette making stuff (bread, brownies, and such - yay for EBT) for others trapped in the hotel this snowy weekend. Or, of course, on one of the many many walksies they enjoy - especially with the snow!
