I think such a purchase can be justified for the hardcore enthusiasts that consistently put more miles on their bikes, than I do my car.
DaiseyFiorilli62
Yeah that's how I buy my bikes, our LBS has a sale for previous year bike model and usually you can save 40 to 50% but the lines are long.

It's astonishing how where cycling became less of an everyday transport thing, the market shifted to wring more from the customers left.

I just went mountain biking for the first time today on a 5k bike..got any recommendations for something about a grand?
Well 5k I assume it's a full suspension, you won't find a good FS for under 1k so you'll have to look for a hard tail. Trek and Scott have
Good HT for under 1k, and you might save money by looking at 2015 models which are always on sale. What type of riding do you want to do?
Damn..that full suspension was awesome. I might be willing to spend more I'm probably gonna be doing trails nothing crazy maybe some jumps?
I would say then get a entry level full suspension with 120mm suspension, it will probably set you up around 2k for entry level bike.
Onlyhereforthelaughs
I don't think I've spent more than $200 on a bike. For 4k I could get a car.
