Early April received a form to fill out. Done and mailed. Got it back, missed something. Fixed and mailed again
Notified yesterday they never got it. Okay pls mail new one.
Today, no money and told they found the original, received April 29, and nobody mailed it back or thought to call me.
I have a little food for the weekend, got bird seed but plans have to be cancelled and now anxious about rent. Sigh.

You’re not alone. They’re the WORST at doing timely work and yet, also the most unmerciful when it comes to citizens’ due dates for paperwork and bills. And, they’re overworked and stressed so they don’t have energy left for empathy or doing good work.

I assume you’re in the US? If so, while I don’t know your situation but it wouldn’t surprise me at all it may not be as much of a they screwed up but more likely the government people have been expected to do (a whole lot) more with (a whole lot) less when Trump ravaged the government workforce and public assistance.

Canada. It's mostly just an underfunded department doing their best.

I'm of the mindset that if a person is ever put on SNAP or other government assistance, they should be on it for life, until they intentionally opt out. We need to be better at taking care of people who are in a shit situation.

This does appear to just be a paperwork error and nothing malicious. It's just annual paperwork that got screwed up.

Happened to me last time I tried to get income assistance too. Glad to see governments everywhere are just as competent /s

The irony is they can get people off assistance by hiring people for the welfare offices.

There have been studies done that show it would cost less money to just approve most welfare requests instead of having to keep a bunch of office workers. doctors and judges on payroll to deny benefits.
