Keeping fascism out of power means knowing how to read the room. The vast majority of Americans are opposed to arming the genocide in Gaza, let alone vocally supporting it. A VP who is proudly on the wrong side of history is a threat to Harris' chances to beating Trump. Write and call your senators and representatives telling them that. We need to push our politicians to be better, not only because it's the right thing to do, but because not doing so could empower worse people to win.

At this point, I don't care about how progressive anyone is, I just don't want faccism.

I would argue that electing people who crack down on peoples' right to protest against genocide is also fascism, and why Shapiro is a bad choice for VP. Like Hill said, we can beat Trump's fascism **AND** push Kamala/ Democrats to not embrace pro-genocide fascists like Shapiro. She doesn't even have to pick an overtly anti-genocide VP, just one who isn't so full-throated in their support for it. Otherwise, key states are at risk.

Nah. I don't think what's happening in gaza is genocide

Well, there's your opinion. I'm personally more inclined to believe the genocide and holocaust scholars that say it is. The words of the Israeli political and military leaders who stated genocidal intentions, the international human rights groups, doctors, and reporters saying and showing otherwise, and all the evidence that's been made clearly visible by Israeli and Palestinian sources, but that's just me... and the actual empirical facts.

This is nonsense. He’s Jewish. That’s why the left hate him.

Your argument makes no sense when we love Bernie, never had a problem with his Jewishness, and would love to see him as president or VP. Stop conflating antisemitism with criticism of Israel/Zionism. Shapiro compared anti-war protestors to the kkk. You would think that might explain why people hate him rather than hide behind this ridiculous antisemitism lie.

“Palestinians will not coexist peacefully,” Shapiro wrote. “They do not have the capabilities to establish their own homeland and make it successful even with the aid of Israel and the United States. They are too battle-minded to be able to establish a peaceful homeland of their own.” You think it might have something to do with that racism? Or volunteering for the IDF? https://www.timesofisrael.com/shapiro-seeks-to-downplay-his-time-as-idf-volunteer-after-college-op-ed-resurfaces/

The Left dislikes him because he accuses anti-genocide protestors, including Jewish anti-genocide protestors such as Jewish Voice For Peace, If Not Now, Never Again Action, and more, as well as various other human rights organizations and persons of supporting Hamas. Shapiro himself is very vocally supportive of Israel's warcrimes in Gaza. The Left tends to be very anti-genocide and anti-racism, which tends to irk Zionists who wish to exterminate an ethnic group in Palestine.

Lots of democrats have done that.

Yes, and that's horrible and they all deserve criticism for that, but few of those are likely VP picks, when there are potential VP candidates who would be far less liable to kill off the voter enthusiasm that was created when Biden stepped down.
