Not a single major media outlet wants to admit lynching STILL happens in the U.S.

Years without a lynching = 0

I do not believe any black person would kill themselves through hanging from a tree. I will never believe that story.

Well, you gotta give the left props for commitment to the bit. I assume this is Soros paying young black men to kill themselves so it looks like there's still racial issues in the US.

There was a summer in trumps first term with lots of protests and i remember there was a black man found hung here in pidmont patk atl ga and then other black men found hung in other city parks in other states within months of each other. Pretty sure they were all "ruled" suicide but absolutley seemed suspect. One of the victims families pushed hard on the "he would not have done this"...i believed them

As you should, every black person learns about lynchings in the south and how hanging black people from trees was a widespread practice to put fear into black communities. As a result no black person in the US would ever chose suicide via that method, especially not in a public setting like that.

It's so weird. I live in Norway and I openly tell my kid and others about how lynching is normal in the US. It's both racially motivated, but trans minorities have also been targeted. Makes me fucking furious.

Aparrently, they aren't finished with the second autopsy, it, so far, is inconclusive. Not that it exonerated the original report, but they're making darn sure he was a victim of foul play.

Didn't know about this, thanks!

The US is a fascist shithole and always has been.

The US is lynching black folks again? What a shithole country.

$5 dollars says that the state will fund a reason to not release the body for that autopsy.

This state doesn’t have funds.

Suicide by hanging is not a common mode. But the fact that all these people were black, is beyond suspicious.
I feel for their families

Said this months ago will say again, the fact that this was in a public location makes this anything but a suicide.

This.

It's common enough, but always indoors. Never from a tree.

A father of a friend hung himself in the Woods. In my country old ppl talk with going into the water Suicide by drowning and going into the Woods suicide by hanging. As horrible as those things are, it happens.

Even IF. My 1st thought was: Given the US history of lynchings of POCs, Klan and all, then MAYBE in the fucking woods, not on a f'in campus!

Maybe across the world but in the US the 2nd amendment guarantees our only universal healthcare (access to euthanasia).

That's like the stereotypical form of suicide in media, isn't it? That or jumping off something like a building or bridge. I know IRL gunshot and OD are the two common ones, but hanging isn't rare enough to immediately arouse suspicion. Hanging from a tree in public definitely is though.

My step brother hung himself from his door in his closet

Hanging from a tree. Full stop. That is the single most uncommon way a black man would kill himself. My, admittedly small sample information, which was my friends growing up, got into a conversation about this bc of a school project.
It was unanimously agreed to by them that lynching plays a far more egregious meaning in their lives than it ever did in mine. This was also my introduction to white privilege, serious misunderstanding, misinterpretation, and understanding to their cultural fear.

Maybe it's different for the US where everyone has a gun, but in Europe this is one of the most common forms of suicide, next to taking pills. I personally knew 3 people, all white cishet males*, who commited suicide, two of which hanged themselves and the third guy jumped in front of a subway. *just saying that because apparently it's more common for women to take pills or even intentionally drown than hanging themselves

I want to make it abundantly clear that I was replying to this comment only, not suggesting that Reed hanged himself. We don't have the facts and sadly probably never will, but my money's on a lynching, too. But I would be surprised if the racist regime did anything to help uncover the truth and punish the perpetrators.

The thing with black people in the US is that every single black child learns about how their ancestors were regularly lynched via hanging from trees, and left hanging there as a warning to other slaves / freed slaves. Not a single black person would choose to hang themselves in public from a tree because of that association, it's always white racists doing it, and cops covering it up because ruling it a suicide is easier as they don't give a shit about black communities seeing justice.

This is 9000 percent true. And its ludicrous that someone who is black and suicidal in college wouldn't have considered the optics and have chosen that method.
