Made some copper roses for wifey for valentines day

Finished ish product first, 8 roses. I made her one per year for the first 5 years of our relationship then ran out of copper and life happened so stopped for a while. decicded to start again.

This is the template i used. Ive used this template every time i always lose it then download the same one from some random place on the internet.
wound up not taking photos of this bit but basically trace with a ballpoint pen the outline and itll leave a mark on the copper. Then cut the copper with the scissors, I used the scalpel to cut from the centre to the edge of the sheet, it was easier than being accurate with the scissors.
I was using 0.076mm sheet. I got 5 roses out of a sheet doing them one at a time, by doing the batch I got 8 out of a sheet and like 10% of the next one.

This took a large amount of cutting, was starting to get a blister on my thumb.

I didn't cut out the star piece that goes behind the petals, about 3 - 4 hours of tracing and cutting to get here. I then poked a hole through the centre of the petal pieces with a scribe,

Then stuffed them onto a copper plated welding rod. They don't seem to rust when kept indoors. Clamp the petals together with a (wooden) peg and put a drop of solder top and bottom

This is what not to do. The roll of solder I picked up to solder the petals to the rod was not flux cored, As such the solder didn't stick to anything. Normally when it's not wetting the metal it means it's too cold. That was not the case.

Fold the inner 3 leaf one tightly, it'll hide the welding rod and solder. Then fold the outer lip of the petals back and the whole petal forward

Getting there slowly. The workshop is busy so it's full of projects on the go, only the untrained eye perceives it as messy.

About 2 hours to solder them up and get all the leaves bent.

All the scrap left over from cutting. The copper cost about $60 delivered, which is on the expensive side. If you get a good supplier it should be like $15-20 a roll but we have the Australia tax. Still wifey is happy

Used a whipping to make the bouquet, came out OK I think.
