For the uninitiated, that's from Doctor Who. The man inside the suit was eaten alive, due to a neural interface in the suit he and some others kept talking for some time afterwards as the person's psyche was sorta cached.
In more than one case, they didn't realize the person had been dead for a period of time, and in the first case the person who'd been killed didn't realize she'd died, and had a short conversation with a friend, asking her to keep something she said private.

This episode coincided with the rise of social media and smartphones, and people were grappling with the idea of interacting with profiles of people who had died. The episode was set in a planet-sized library, which seems like a metaphor for the vast amount of information that was now available at our fingertips yet our characters are afraid of the dark and the predators that lurk in the shadows.

Forever confused at "turned out" instead of turn off. English is weird.

It originates from a joke in the early 1900's when electric lights first rose to popularity. English speakers used to say 'put out' lights when they were oil/flame based, and 'turn off' lights as they became electric switch based. It was a common comedy bit to mix the two, indicating that the character mixing the two was ignorant. Then that just became common use.
