I feel like this is a missed "banana for scale" opportunity.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

HOW COULD ANYONE EVER SEPARATE THEM.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's sooo cute awww!

@typhusviii

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't have the heart to separate them after this...

9 years ago | Likes 409 Dislikes 0

They really shouldn't be. Their social bonds are critically important. Sadly humans who buy them for pets dont care about that.

9 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 2

why are you assuming that they were purchased as pets?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I really don't understand why people want animals like these as pets. It feels weird and cruel to me

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can you explain more? Like with dogs, I think you wait 6-8 weeks so they learn to socialize with other puppies in the litter, is it 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That genuinely hurt my heart and soul.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh apparently they were rescued and were separated during treatment but it's still sad that they missed eachother.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The same with chimps where there is a period where they develop social skills or were they just not meant to be domesticated/pets. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Chimps are in no way dogs. Chimps form deep family bonds very young. It would be like ripping away a human infant from their >>

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

<< parents. Only in the pet trade they usually kill the parents in order to get the infants. And without their parents to teach them >>

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

<< they may never be able to communicate or live with other chimps ever again. Just like human infants, if they dont have the proper >>

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Imagine keeping a toddler as a pet. It's like that but we just can't communicate with them well.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

But why were they separated from each other and their mother in the first place? Are they in a conservation place or are they "pets"?

9 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 3

Rescued from captivity, these two brothers were separated for treatment in two different Ngos. After recovering, they were reunited.

9 years ago | Likes 180 Dislikes 1

Thank you! That's good.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That makes me feel a lot better. Now it can just be cute and heartwarming! Still sad they were ever pets though.

9 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 2

Who said they were pets? They were in captivity: we don't know exactly whete

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I mean I assume captivity meant pet trade. What else would they be in captivity as? Meat?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I wonder if there are places specifically dedicated to keeping animals in captivity and are known for treating and taking good care of said

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Man, I gotta say this info *really* could have been included in the OP. There's a source, and that's great, but it would've been nice.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

I see the Post Police have a good response time today.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

More gold if you dole the information out slowly.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pets it seems like.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

No they are not pets. At least not anymore

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well then fuck these people. Chimps, bears, big cats etc should not be pets and buying them young only encourages the awful pet trade.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

Actually they're working on domesticating bears. Not like the circus, but by breeding the calmer ones. Who knows if it it'll pan out

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've been saying this for years, but always been called racist or insane! But thanks! <3

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

How in the world could it be racist?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Because I wan't to kill all asians as they are the majority of animal abusers.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Right after you posted, another comment said they were rescued from captivity but separated for treatment in 2 'Ngos'. They're together now.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They got reunited after recovery

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So those monkeys are slaves?

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

If they were, not anymore. READ THE CONTEXT...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How does one read context?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The source

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have reread the definition of context.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At first .. then ..

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Chimps are not monkeys. They are apes, like us.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Try and leave your country without getting permission from your keeper(government) and let me know how that goes.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And it feels so good!
