Always check your corners.

So for a little backstory:

I got home at 2AM from a particularly crappy night at work. I park next to a garage (not mine) and my front door is a very short walk from there. I also live on a corner, so folks can walk through our lane to avoid being next to traffic.

I get out of my car, close up, stand for several minutes enjoying the cool air, and walk toward my door. I come up to the corner of the garage, and a black man nearly two heads taller than me stops just short of us smashing in to each other. He stares, I stare, his eyes are wide. "You scared me," is all I can say. He cracks a huge grin and replies "You scared me too!" Puts a hand on his chest and belly-laughs, and went on his way.

Rock on, huge black dude. Sorry I scared you.

FP EDIT: First of all, thank you for getting me to FP. Second, I think people are reading too much in to me saying 'black dude.' He was a black dude with a great laugh. The color of his skin is not at all important to this story, and that's why I wrote the backstory, to denote he was enormous in physique without cluttering up the image. If he was a huge white dude I'd have said so. If he was a huge clown with a mohawk wielding two chainsaws I'd have said so also. Him being black isn't important, it was his size, the great laugh, and the funny encounter at 2AM.
