Reply order is broken, but that's the Iraqi cats, except moma kitty who's been outside for 4 years now. She's feral and is grateful for head scritches and food but no more. The other kitty is Tortuga #11 #12, she lives at my place in Oakland, adopted me and took over my house when she was pregnant. That was in March of 2010, she's getting to be an old kitty. More cat stories than anyone could every want.

Unfortunately, I don't have enough hands to bother all these animals simultaneously.

9 now: Leo, Naranje, & Tux are one tribe. Najme has some integration issues. Babri, Tallayeh, & Felfeli are another tribe. Mischo & Pixie are the third. Sadly, Nabati passed a few weeks ago. We all miss her.

Holy Catsman! That’s a bunch! I’ve been working on my hubby to let me get #4 for a year, now.

There's a story for each:

#50 #44 #39 is Leo, he's a bit aggro and very protective. Naranje #1 #30 #8 is the queen of the house and Leo's sister. The two are very close #24 #32. They were first. Sometime just before Corona, Tux #9 #13 #38 decided he lived here too. He just zoomed in every time the door was open, so in the end, he was right. He is every visitor's best friend, but he goes crazy for long hair and has no concern about jumping on strangers to attack their hair. That's the main Tribe and the first three.

Babri #3 #21 #34 #45 #46 #47 was mine in a different apartment from the before time. He just adopted me, I lived in the 4th floor and every night he was at my door, walking up the stairs. Eventually he came in and didn't leave. He was adult, semi-feral, and is scared of everything, but adorable. Talluyeh #2 #23 #26 #27 #28 #33 #49 we found one day walking barely alive the winter of C19 lockdown, having lost to a fan belt. She took 4-5 months to recover during full lockdown...

...we had to make a couple of medicine runs through military checkpoints with dubious human prescriptions as passes, but she pulled through and became Babri's friend in the second tribe.

Then a friend came for help one night with a kitty in horrible shape, Mischo #16 #17 - he'd had an accident and his right front leg was succumbing to gangrene. We got him through recovery and he was supposed to go to another home, eventually to Ukraine in fact, but that fell through (before the war) and he came back for keeps. In the mean time, a very noisy kitten was crying from down the block every night for 3 days and on the third day, losing strength, I gave her a little psspsspss and...

Felfeli (little pepper) #14 #35 had a forever home. She needed a few weeks isolation and then happily joined the Babri tribe. She doesn't like being picked up, but jumps on me at every opportunity. Then, mid corona, we were out to dinner in a different neighborhood (dream city) and this very sweet cat came begging pets and leftover food and as she snuggled we noticed she had a gaping wound, so we tossed her in the car and Najme #19 came home. She's good with me and sweet, but fighty

So she has her own room. It's been a year and slowly, slowly she's accepting the other cats through partially open doors. In time, she'll join one of the tribes. In the mean time from my window I heard a kitten crying one night and traced it to the bumper of a neighbor's car. It took three hot Iraqi summer days to get the little bugger out and required partial disassembly of the cars. I loaned the neighbor a cat carrier to take it to a vet, but I got it back with Pixie #5 #7 #15 She joined...
