MTG mana philosophies!
In Magic the Gathering spells are casted using mana. There are five different kinds (or colors) of it, each representing a certain strategy, mindset or even philosophy by wich the player (referred often as Planeswalker) using that color intends to win the match. Each deck (or Library) can be formed using any combination of said colors, but let'focus a bit on what these colors stand for individually. (DIsclaimer: I won't explain how to play in any shape or form. Tha would take ages and result quite boring for imgur, and there are many guides online anyway)

Red: http://imgur.com/gallery/RJAfI
Green: http://imgur.com/gallery/cwF7o
Colors can be used in pairs and even in this case something can be said about how two different philosophyes can merge and be functional in a single deck. The names for this kind of pairings come from the Guilds of Ravnica. Ravnica is a city (and a plane) in which these Guilds (each representing a pairing of mana colors) try to coexist in a balance created by the magical contract called the "Guildpact". We won't go over the lore, however. Keep in mind that the pairings can still use mechanics specific to one of the two colors, and I will cover only the mechanics specific of that pairing as a whole, as I already described the colours singularly.

Pairings
White + Green = Selesnya
The Selesnya Conclave is one of the biggest guilds in Ravnica and it shares values both with Green and White. To some, it is a loving religion, which values peace, harmony and prosperity. To others, it is a brainwashing cult that would do anything to make you forget your problems and support the status-quo. In fact, Selesnya is all about prosperity and peace, and it wants everyone to join its goal of serenity and growth. This means that Selesnya is often twisted in its ways, as it sees value in obliviating or ignoring problems in order to keep unrest from disrupting the status quo. It can be easily said that Selesnya opposes individuality and freedom (values associated with Black and Red).
Convoke
Green values growth, expecially the growth of its own creatures. White values community and quantity over quality. Convoke lets you use the great quantity of creatures provided by White to cast a big ass creature just like Green likes it.
Populate
Populate litterally means that all your creature tokens start multiplying like rabbits. White, as we said, loves a big army, and Green wants thing to proliferate as much as possible. Populate is the result. A bunch of tokens that grow in number as you play populate spells. Live long and Prosper.
Final disclaimer: take theese kind of posts (which I plan to complete with all the color wheel) as a very broad generalization. MTG is a very complex game, and colors themselves are very much flexible, however I just thought that some of you might enjoy this kind of perspective over the game. Sidenote: english is not my native lenguage, so be merciful, ye cunts.
