Mother fuckers on the wrong side of history

He DID say he wanted to be a dictator. This is barely scratching the surface of what they want to do.

Every president wants to repeal the 22nd Amendment. Not new by any stretch.

I'll be contrary. I'm glad to see these idiots waste time with legislation like this rather than the true evil shit some of them want to do.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty-second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution like the birthright stuff, it's unconstitutional and due to that would require a very high bar in Congress as well as a 2/3rds(?) majority of states to ratify that.

Thing is, if Trump does claim a 3rd term (I do not think he will, but that's a different discussion), who would stop him? The police, the class traitors who support the powerful? SCotUS? They'd use Trump's shit as toothpaste.

Yup, republickers are a bunch of hypocrites...

I just Fing cant at this rate. 4 YEARS of this shit 2 if we are lucky to stop him in time.

Just a reminder that this will never pass house. They’d need 70 democrats to flip for this to even have a chance.

Just a reminder that Trump v. Anderson ruled that it isn't needed and being Constitutionally ineligoble to hold office doesn't prevent Trump from running.

And even if they manage that, they still need like 3/4 of state assemblies to ratify it. Good luck with that in less than 4 years, because he sure as shit ain't gonna be alive 8 years from now.

Is this specifically for Trump to have a third term or presidents in general?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

anyone. It changes term limits to 3 terms for president

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

To answer my own question, if I'm reading it right, it's not specific to trump per se.
But someone can have 3 terms as long as no more than two of them are consecutive.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's a roundabout way of making it almost exclusively for him. What would he be, then, 90?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I cant help you there. But knowing them its specifically for him. Or they could be dump and have it for all presidents doubt they would be that dumb to pull a stunt like that. Imagine though.

I don't see why presidents are limited to 2 terms anyway.

Short answer Franklin D. Roosevelt. The man the myth the legend, Helped the poor and middle class SIGNIFICANTLY bringing people out of the great depression. He won 3 terms for that and the republican party said, "If we don't do something he will be president for much longer and we will never win" Hence they made an amendment that the president can only serve 2 terms. Republicans could not win period so they had to add a law so they had a chance to win. Cry baby cheap skates they all are.

Unironically I think we should get rid of term limits for president. 8 years isnt enough time to enact sweeping policy especially since congress only passes laws now when one party controls both chambers. The sole reason we have term limits is because FDR was able to do some much the capital class had to shut that shit down so it doesnt happen again

We absolutely need term limits for presidents and shitters like trump are exactly fucking why you moron. If anything, we need more term limits in other aspects of government like SCOTUS and the house and Senate.

Terms limits have proven to make corruption worse. The voters have a choice in not picking shitters like trump. However there will always be people like him. Term limits don't change that. Donors love term limits because it gives them more power

Yeah having no term limits on SCOTUS and the Senate has really helped us out with the biggest contributors to our country's shitty state is directly tied to a couple in each who should have been forced to retire years ago.

Difference with SCOTUS is they aren't politicians that have elections every few years where they can lose thier position. That's why term limits matter for them. The issue with the senate isn't the individual senators, it's with thier donors who fund them. If senators had 2 terms and McConnell was gone decades ago, the exact same issues would be plaguing the country because the donors would just find a different politician to push their agenda
