Nazis wore a belt buckle that said "Gott Mit Uns," which is "God is with us." I will reject any ideology that is so inherently cruel that it can be twisted to justify goddamn fucking genocides. Repeatedly. Over thousands of years, killing tens of millions at minimum. Christianity advocates slavery. It advocates that people will be happy to throw babies against rocks. Don't rehabilitate a fundamentally evil ideology with a racist, sexist, moronic godthing at its head.
Do you have whatever materials (if required) you need to practice on your own?
Do you really, actually, honestly, truly, cross your heart, no lie, need someone else to interpret the gods for you (or god if yours is one that only venerates a singular)? Really really??
There's a fair chance the "anti-ICE Rant" was "Love your neighbors" or something similar. Republicans tend to do that, self-insert into the 'bad guy' role otherwise generally agreeable statements, such as describing "Punch Nazis" as threats against republicans.
It is a blasphemy of highest order to think that God is a spirit you can conjure by building a temple and finding a specific type of cow to sacrifice. God will not appear upon magical incantations, but demons will.
What better encapsulates MAGA and it's relationship to Christianity then how they constantly believe the rules of their religion apply to everyone except them.
Sadly, both the worst incarnations of Christianity and frothing anti-immigrant hate go back further in America than the concepts of national unity or independence.
Thing is, "do not oppress the foreigner" is so Biblically fundamental it's in Leviticus. They're not just bad Christians in a broad, vibes-based, "Christ wouldn't want this" sense. They're bad in the "the text explicitly says not to do this," sense.
After they changed the part about "stopping pedophile priests" into "gay is bad", they stopped reading. Honestly they didn't even read that part. Do you know how many words they would have to read to read all of the parts that talk about being good to neighbour and not oppressing foreigners? Its more than they have fingers and toes after the Fourth of July.
The problem (as stated for the past 1700+ years) is that the Bible is a curated documented designed to appeal to any political position and you can go thru it and defend all forms of barbarism, from genocide to child murder to slavery to the horrifying treatment and subjugation of women.
Hell, rape is a property crime in the Torah.
You can also find absolute rules to not hoard wealth, to welcome the stranger, to feed and care for the poor and sick.
E.g. I consider myself culturally Jewish (think Jackie Mason sarcastic commentaries), but I am absolute atheist and anti-Zionist (actually anti, I do not believe Israel should exist as anything other than Palestinian territory... note, I was raised by Zionists, and did think Israel had a right to exist, but that was completely broken Israeli actions during the 2nd Intifada when this pic was taken:
Good humans do exist, & one has just responded to my lazy comment. (Tips hat in your direction & means to include any others who have grown away from unreasoned hatred.) Thank you :)
