A coworker removed her sandal, and was pretending she was going to beat someone’s ass. I was like 10 feet away, totally not part of the convo, and only saw it from the corner of my eye. I still flinched and doubled over. This shit is real.

One of my grandfathers would just tell me to turn around and bend over sometimes. Then he'd kick me in the ass. I liked that one more, 1/2

It hurt a helluva lot less and honestly looking back that's funny as hell. 2/2

Nah, we always got the wooden spoon. Or soap in the mouth.

People in other countries use coat hangers to beat their kids? Didn’t know.

It’s more about what’s the closest thing at hand when an ass beating is gonna happen. Damage + availability + maneuverability = good enough

I don't know about other countries, but I was hit with coat hangers, fly swatters, wooden dowels, belts, and Hot Wheels tracks.

Hot wheels track hurt but usually my siblings were the ones wielding it, my parents preferred the hairbrush or hand.

My parents wouldn't hit us with their hands. They didn't want to hurt themselves.
