The tale of Dale the tar seal..

Jan 19, 2017 4:30 AM

For the past few months my city has been visited by a persistent fur seal
(Dunedin, New Zealand)

His favourite occupation was to sunbathe on the side of (or on) busy roads

You could definitely say he loved the attention

His location choices caused many police call outs..

DoC (Department of Conservation) used very high-tech methods to encourage him off the roads.

-DOC staff used a board to usher the fur seal back into the water.
"He knows me well enough by now that when he saw me he just turned around and went back into the water."

He has been very popular with the people living here. I'm not even sure people minded him slowing traffic while he enjoyed the sun

Unfortunately yesterday he was found dead on the train tracks. He will definitely be missed..
I personally loved hearing about what he was getting up to and what havoc he was causing just for a chance to sunbathe

I guess this is just a tribute to Dale.
You were a magnificent creature with a love for sunbathing and no fucks to give
