“If I was a king, we’d be doing a lot more. I’m doing a lot, but I could be doing a lot more if I was a king.”

Remember how one of the biggest points behind the US revolutionary war for independence from the UK was about not having a king?

Now, 250 years since the war of independence, a self-proclaimed "patriot" is opening admitting his wish to be king.

Contrary to what so many folks have said, the US didn't join WW2 to fight the Nazis--that was incidental. Until Pearl Harbor, the US was pretty ok with whatever the Nazis were doing so long as they left us alone. Major US-based companies happily did business with the Nazis (e.g. Ford, IBM, etc...) & more than a few politicians praised Hitler.

We did, however, have a war that was explicitly about resisting things like ruling by decree, taxation without representation, & monarchy. Resisting the rule of a king is literally why the US formed. We can't be considered a serious nation anymore. Arguably, we can't really be considered a legitimate nation either on account of the rolling constitutional crisis we've been mired in since 2016.

Counting the days til he dies

He did say he'd be a "dictator on day 1" so let's not forget that's the actual goal.

This is only "damning" to anyone who hasn't been paying attention since, well, forever. We knew he wanted to be king back in Trump fucking tower - the golden toilets were a tell.

If he becomes a king, guillotines become an option. Fair's fair.

I was able to view this article without a paywall. Not sure what the protocol is, but why post their article here and deprive them of the page views on their site? Still learning how this works.

The US was an isolationist nation after WW1. That doesn’t mean we agreed with what the Nazis were doing. American companies do not reflect American policy. FDR spent the war up until Pearl supplying London with all the “surplus” we were able to. We came to London’s aid. Then after Pearl we liberated Europe first. Do not attempt to downplay the one thing we ever did right, because we fucking did it right.

Germany actually declared war on the USA on Dec 11, 1941. This saved FDR and Churchill a lot of trouble because while America and Great Britain were instantly bound as allies against Japan after Pearl Harbor and the fall of Hong Kong, selling Americans on fighting Germany [again] would have been very difficult if not impossible.

The US was actively fighting Nazis in April, 1941 as part of our Neutrality Patrols.... first engagement was on April 10, 1941 when USS Niblack dropped depth charges on a suspected German submarine.... In September, 1941, FDR ordered the US Navy to 'shoot on sight' any German sub...

I will note that the US did not actually score any German kills until March of 1942 when U-656 was sunk by a PBY off Newfoundland... and then USS Roper sunk U-85 in April 13, 1942 off Cape Hatteras.

What is the functional difference if Congress and the Courts let him demand 'lists of Jews' from colleges?

Very true.

Well, this time the decrees and the ruling autocratically are not interfering with the interest of local billionaires or slave owners so revolution isn’t such an imperative right now.

Im sorry there shouldnt be any wink wink nudge nudge closed press conversations with the president. If the president is sat down with a journalist, that journalist should say EVERYTHING, publish absolutely everything. They are the president and should not have their speech and opinions protected when they represent a country. They should have nothing to hide. If it is a matter of security then it shouldnt be discussed period.

"Tonight I'm gonna make a speech and basically tell everybody how great I am."
He announced earlier in the week he was going to make an important announcement, it turns out it's just him stroking his own ego. Pathetic.

did anyone mirror it? or dup it?

"Self proclaimed patriot"

You know, just because someone SAYS words doesn't mean you have to parrot them. You can just call him a fascist dictator. You don't need to try to equate what he's doing with "patriotism" in any way whatsoever....because it's not patriotism....nothing he does is patriotic.

He's so stupid that everyone immediately knows who I'm talking about...

We need to add an amendment to constitution.... anyone in politics who mentions wanting to be a king is immediately tossed in jail and labeled w/ treason to the nation.
Our forefathers fought and died to remove kings from the nation. Wanting to be king in USA is treason as its against the literal core belief of the nation.

The US had been sending supplies through lend lease to the Uk, China, and the Soviet Union who were fighting Germany and Japan well prior to entering WW2. To say the US was ‘ok’ with the axis is just wrong and text book lying.

You see that string of letters & numbers which are underlines underneath that 1st image? Try putting your cursor over that & giving it a click. You should see an entirely new webpage get loaded (don't be scared if a new window on your browser opens to display the page--some browsers are set up like that). That new webpage will be the article which has been been shown here as a series of screenshots. Happy websurfing, my dude! Cowabunga & all that jazz.

Chevron and Exxon would get that oil, not me

Okay, understand that when he says "America" he means "me", and when he says "Americans" he means "me, and my rich asshole buddies".

He defines words differently than we do in the reality based community.

I'm ok with crowning him King, so long as he gets the French Treatment immediately after his coronation.

Preferably lying supine, so he can see the blade coming down, maybe with a few short trial drops to show him what’s coming.

We could crown all the billionaires too, right before. Let's make every oligarch a king, even if it's just for a minute. BTW if we did

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"king" every billionaire, and got the process efficient enough to take two minutes each it would still take 80 days to go through them all.

3 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or the happy (if possibly apocryphal) story of Marcus Licinius Crassus.

3 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that's gotta take a lot more than 2 minutes, and with 2.5k of them we need to be efficient is all I'm saying.

3 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No need to use the same method all the time. One showy attention-grabbing example would do wonders, I think.
