This is several miles from a trailhead uphill, so it was actually not swarming with people. We still waited a few minutes so nobody would be in the shot. The most popular photo of the park is probably "tunnel view" which is right off a parking lot. There's lines of people waiting to take pictures there.
If (when) you go, I suggest the shoulder season. It's way too peopley otherwise. Also, if you can, consider a visit to June Lake/Mammoth/Kings/Sequoia--just as pretty, if you know where to look.
