While this is popular, thought I would share my experiences doing taxes.

After explaining we have no way of finding out what payroll company he uses besides contacting the company (which he didn't have the number for, and google had no number for) he demanded we find it anyways. We eventually had to terminate the call and he called back to back, quacking if we picked up. Thank God for caller ID.

There is no set amount per kid. A lot of factors effect that. No, it's not my fault you saw a sign that said that somewhere. We actually pay and get paid to take those signs down. No, just because we do taxes does not mean we are responsible for the false information other tax places advertise.

I get wanting to know, but we are not allowed to quote. Because suddenly Johnny who had a single w-2 actually owns a business. We do free estimates. That's the best we can do. When we try to quote, we get it wrong every. single. time. and customers hold it over us.

This really bugged me. Especially since it cut into my commission and was a week long return.

We give free returns to poor individuals or ones who are getting a low amount back. They are also more likely to have their refund taken due to debt. And also most likely to be insisting everything the IRS does is our fault.

This one was a month long nightmare. We did her return, went over her fees, she signed a consent form for fees. We processed her return. IRS approved it. And then two days later she wanted to undo it. She claimed the IRS had not processed it (they had) and that she can undo it and go submit it at home. She wanted all fees back. Because she actually tried to take us to court, our owners decided to give her her money back....

No contact phone number. No information. This happens a lot. They sometimes even just leave them in the waiting area. And then come back pissed that they either a) never got a call or b) never got a refund.

I didn't sit here for two hours doing this return just for fun. This is a service that is usually (unless you're poor) not free. And we are not allowed to print unfinished returns.

Was it with our company?
"No"
I don't have access to your information then.
"Yes you do. Stop being lazy. It's all the same stuff. Pull it off the IRS website and submit it for me. This is my name, do it"
Literally stormed out without contact information.
They are going to get some bad news later on this year....

If you didn't have taxes taken out of your 40,000 a year job and had no dependents or any tax exemptions you're going to have a bad time....

Every. Single. Day.
No, you cannot get back more than you earned.

And so do hundreds of other local businesses. Hanging a poster does not entail you to have a free business return that takes over a week to complete due to your poor ability to provide the proper information.

She ended up tearing our banner down and knocking over two trash cans. She said it's "fucking sick" that our waver is male. And that she felt violated and her gender threatened and that we should have a girl waving to passengers and not "some rapist". She leaved when we said we're calling the cops. Funny thing is: our office is entirely female and the only male worker was the one outside, waving.

This is just a little sad. People, please do your taxes. Even if you made little to no money. I have seen people who only made 3k but had kids get 1k back in taxes. But they missed years because they thought they couldn't do it. Also, there is no such thing as saving up all of your w-2's from several years and doing one tax return, combining the income. Please, just don't.

storytime

The second to last story, I bet the cops had fun arresting her. Not every man is a rapist, and being a psycho bitch isn't helping anyone.

The rich don't get that way by spending it.

To be honest, I wish people could give estimates or ranges as to what something costs before hand.

I understand that. What I think people don't understand is that coorporate controls prices and adjusts them depending on whether or not

honestly crazy that there is no point and only harms us usually since we don't like to give high estimates

we're in the middle of busy season, and sometimes randomly, and then sometimes people require forms they didn't know and the range is so

Here in Canada we can go back 5 years and still get a refund (or pay) from every year missed. You do get a small penalty though.

We can go back 3 years. But the thing is, a lot of these people could have used the money earlier rather than later, and would have gotten

more of it.

I just checked and we can go back 7. I hear ya though, a lot of people don't realize their is a penalty. Its 10% but stops at 20 months.

At first I thought you misspelled waiver. Why do you have a guy that waves at people ?.

It's a guerrilla marketing strategy. He stands on a busy road with our company sign and dances and waves the sign at traffic. Common in U.S.

If you're an independent contractor filling a 1099 doe 64 bucks really matter that much?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If it's your only income, no, not really. If you didn't pay taxes on it and it's your only income,I've heard of the IRS freaking out over it

They don't come after you if they owe you and you don't file but they will come after you if you owe them and don't file.
