In my country to get a firearms license you have to pass tests, interviews, police check, reference check. Have the appropriate gun safe and the license only lasts 5 years, then you need to do it all over again when you reapply. The whole process can take between 3-6 months and they can turn around at any moment and decline the application. They interview your wife/husband. If your divorced. They interview your ex. They check your medical records for mental illness etc.
