This statement is mixed up. 3.2 beer is 3.2% ABW, or about 4% ABV. 0.5% ABV and below beer was exempted from prohibition in the Volstead Act. The Cullen-Harrison Act was a federal act repealing the Volstead act and allowing 3.2% ABW to be sold nationwide if the state would allow it. Löwenbräu lager is usually around 5% ABV with mainly Dopplebock or Märzen going 6%+. The Löwenbräu in the US sold in the 70s and 80s was made by Miller using an "Americanized" recipe in the 4-5% range.
Patton Oswalt has a good bit that basically reads like this. He would argue that a redneck who uses all the wrong terms but loves and accepts everyone is a better supporter of equality than someone with a good education who says all the right things, but you can still tell that their tolerance only goes skin deep. The redneck will be the first one to throw hands to defend that equality, and that means a whole lot more than just getting all the words right.

I hear this often listening to NPR. learning to speaking the correct code is not aways empathy, and word policing often derails meaningful conversation. You can always circle back to vocabulary after the point has been made instead of interrupting a message about love half way through.
And, despite the tantrum boycott that would surely end them, Bud Light is still served in pretty much every bar in the United States. (Please shut the fuck up about quality. That is in no way the topic of conversation.)

I find it hard to believe if a person heard a family member say that they would be sad. They'd probably feel alleviated knowing there's one less person that hates them. After hearing that wouldn't it make sense that a trans niece could just go talk to him openly about it after that and explain things? Trans people are not weak. They are strong and have dealt with more serious words than that
