Meet Luna the Super Mutt

The moment we received her from her foster family and held her for the first time.

She found her person pretty quickly. While Luna loves all of us, my wife is definitely her person.

Yeah, we were definitely not the keep off the furniture type of family. Spoiler: she sleeps on our bed every night.

Like a lot of dogs she loves sticks

2021 has been a tough year for our family. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer for the 2nd time in 3 years, and had to undergo three surgeries to remove her remaining breast and proactively remove her ovaries. She had an almost fatal infection after her mastectomy that sent her back to the hospital for 4 days. Almost fatal as in she stopped breathing, became unresponsive, and turned grey while I was going to get her Zofran.

I’ve been asking for a dog for years, and we decided that getting a pet might be good for our family to help us all heal and get through everything.

We went to the website of our local shelter-less rescue and found Luna (fka Valentine). At the time of her adoption, this fluffy 8 week old girl melted our hearts instantly and has been a fixture in our family ever since.

She loves to play fetch and tug-of-war, she loves to cuddle A LOT, and she loves napping on soft blankets. She was advertised as a lab mix, but her DNA results indicate that she is 40% husky, 15% beagle, 12% german shepherd, 10% golden retriever, and 23% super mutt. To us she is 100% the best thing that has ever happened to us.
