That's fantastic. This doesn't help answer OPs question (I have no idea what they were being farmed for) but if you grow your own fruits and/or vegies planting dandelions is a great way to attract pollinators early so they'll be plentiful when you need them for your food plants

Machines like these have dropped food price to a fraction of what it used to be. Before mechanisation 90% of work force worked in agriculture.
So if you like cheap food and not being a farm hand, don't demonize agriculture machines.
