All the bacon (750g)
All the chicken (1.5kg)
Cook the chicken. Cook the bacon (not shown)
Knob of butter, garlic (3-4 cloves). Fry a bit. Add 600mL cream. Heat, thicken.
(you can see cooked chicken, bacon & noodles cooking as well)
Add bacon & chicken back in. Couple handfuls of parmesan + pepper. Mix it around a bit, let it thicken, do the hokey pokey, whatever takes your fancy.
Serve on pasta.
I used fresh egg fettuccine so there was egg in the noodles, rather than egg in the sauce which a typical carbonara would have.
The above yielded about 8 servings.
Exyr
You should never call that carbonara

Creamy chicken and bacon pasta sauce then. Happy ?
VegansCauseAutism
That is ham, not bacon and definitly no carbonara since except the pasta, all the key ingtedients are missing.
FeChefImgur
Well the packet said it was bacon. Do tell what else is missing apart from the egg, which I did acknowledge was absent.
VegansCauseAutism
Pancetta(fattier bacon), olive oil, pasta water, parmigiano-reggiano, eggs(+extra yolks) and pepper is all you need for carbonara sauce.
FeChefImgur
yeah, so this one had no egg in it, so had cream instead. Agreed, the bacon I used wasn't pancetta and wasn't very fatty at all.
VegansCauseAutism
Since you used a butter/cream based sauce with parmesan and garlic, you made an american Alfredo sauce.
VegansCauseAutism
Pancetta/bacon is cured and smoked pork belly. Yours was ham, which is made out of pure muscle meat, hence the absence of fat.
VegansCauseAutism
The salt from the pamigiano, cured meat + the pasta water is the reason you dont have to put salt into a carbonara.

That's not even Canadian bacon... that looks like cheap cold cuts the pork was probably but not certainly involved with.
FeChefImgur
I'm not Canadian, so no, it's not Canadian bacon at all :)
mattchooks
Right, but its definitely not regular bacon either.
FeChefImgur
It's middle bacon.
