This is the current outdoor temperature at almost midnight.
And this is the current indoor temperature.
AC went out today around 1 PM. 10 hours later after letting it "thaw" for around 6 hours total (cold off, just fans running), it's still 89 degrees in my house. It was 91 earlier. Both filters were recently changed. I work from home, upstairs. This thermostat only measures the downstairs. Heat rises, bitches. It's a sweatshop up there.
Landlord told us to "make sure all the registers are open" (i guess he meant vents? Yes, they are, and all the upstairs doors are open too, so fuck your stifled airflow hypothesis) and "turn it to 74 to see if that helps." Really?
This shit has happened every summer for the 4 summers we've been here. It's the worst this year.
He's supposed to be here at 9 tomorrow morning, so we'll see what happens. In the meantime, I've got half gallon juice bottles in the freezer and a desk fan at the ready for a ghetto air conditioner so I can maybe get some fucking sleep tonight and/or work tomorrow without getting fucking heatstroke.
And yeah, I'd love to have the windows and doors all open at night, but not only do I have pets that love to houdini and scamper, but my sister has a massive phobia of large bugs, and we live in South Texas...so that's out the window. Pun also intended.
I know this shit ain't weird enough for a true 29th lost, but frankly my dears, it's hot as hell, and I don't give a damn.

First thing you should probably check is see how dirty the condenser coil is (which I would assume the landlord did already)

But more than likely it's another issue he may not be equipped to handle and would need a professional...cause what it's doing is far from

It's an outdoor unit, and it turns out it was a capacitor.

though idk where a condenser coil would be if it was inside the house. It's a 2 story house with the intakes basically on top of each other.

Big box with good sized metal fan on top located outside. Never considered the capacitor...but I only know part of how they works.
