This is because as money becomes a bigger issue, people stop buying cars in cool colors. blue/black/red/white/silver resell better and hold value better. So blame your local recession.

Honda packages car colors. From base trim to a paint color you like, can be >9k. Not only Honda though. I just happen to own a silver one. It is common in the car industry now. Which is why cars are 70% white, black, or a grey/silver variant.
