I know that community well. I am so very very not surprised. They kept up with organized teacher-led christian prayer there long after it was ruled unconstitutional to do so. The area's pretty big on christian nationalism too, and is considered one of the most conservative communities in the state.
#4 I don't know about the legalese of these documents but the upper block does not sound like not meeting any of the criteria is an automatic exclusion, language like "must match..." sure does. "match the make-up of our community" sounds like a thinly veiled "must be WASP", there is a whole other issue.
It was signed by a Democrat; of course they will. In fact, this act was the impetus for the core of Southern Democrats to leave the Democratic Party, attempt their own, fail, and then invade the Republican Party "to ensure the South never votes Democrat again". Their STATED goal. And so, the GOP became the racist party.
"conservative politically/financially" pretty sure hiring based on political alignment is also not okay, though I'm not actually sure. It's definitely not allowed by government funded institutions though, that would be the government limiting free speech.
Christian values. So pregnant 10 year olds, raping the rest of them, no one with too much of a tan, all the girls take Home Ec so they can make the male teachers' lunches. Values like that?
ACLU is probably already retaining an attorney and looking for a complainant for their discrimination lawsuit and I hope they beat the shit out of that school district. Please remember to Vote Blue in every election at every level, ESPECIALLY SCHOOL BOARDS, in order to eliminate these bastards forever!
Fucking Christo-fascists. Register. Vote. Teach them the US is based on a full separation of church and state. Both freedom of, and freedom from, religion.
I 100% agree. We need to mobilize as much and as fast as we can… But we also need to be ready for these fucking mouth-breathing shitheads that will try to take our country by force. I don’t advocate for open violence, only that we should be prepared for it if the situation arises. We outnumber these morons by a lot… And if they want to try us, we should remind them of that.
Everyone please vote. We have the power if we just group together and use it! Vote in every single election. Your lives and anyone you care about depend on it. You want change? Fucking vote!!
The us is based on a full separation of church and state, but it's composed of a LOT of people who embrace religion in their daily lives, so religion rears its ugly head in all aspects of government where those people can be found.
Either they didn't respond to the queries (for obvious reasons), there's no data, or the sample size was so low it's statistically insignificant (it's probably that because a lot of those white dots or countries have a very small population)
absolutely. In fact I'm surprised they even put that in the job description... it is (they are) stupid. If you want to 'exclude' someone just do like the Olympic judges did back in the cold war days and take off a few tenths of a point across the board. "So sorry, all the non-christian folks missed out by just 'that much', but they were very well qualified.".
Right? I might be able to give them the benefit of it was listed at the top among the listing of desired characteristics that will not all fit in one person, but they added it to a line that said “MUST be…”. It was intentional and they got caught.
Yep. Like in Ontario it's illegal to discriminate based on race and religion but the new staff at my mother's work suspiciously started to match the ethnicity of the manager a few years ago. It's a chain store that has nothing to do with any particular ethnic group. It's like Bed Bath and Beyond. Also, no black people have been hired. But there's no way to prove discrimination without records. They'll just pretend it was solely based on resumes and interviews. Just a statistical anomaly bro!
Gee I wonder which group you could possibly be referring to?
As an unrelated sidebar, some less-enlightened South Asians are super hateful about Black people. Racism is idiotic no matter who does it. We'll all be homeless and starving together soon enough, guys.
Happened at my place of work too some time ago. Guy brought in others of his ethnicity to fill managerial and higher level roles but it became a clusterfuck because he pushed out or pushed back a lot of experienced engineers. Customers were pissed, revenue took a dip, and he and all his cronies were gone in one weeks time. They brought back whomever they could but it set us back behind our competitors for two years.
sadurdaynight
Doesn't this violate equal opportunity emploment laws? Can't discriminate based on ... religion.
QtheM

I feel sexually abusive to children would be bad for a school board member tho
Kiirdel
I don't want the super nintendo to offer his daughters to a rape mob to save angels.
dwolvin
And if they don't get hammered for it, it will not get deleted next time.
SavageDrums
They won't, and it won't.
Filanwizard
"Conservative Politically and fiscally" could also be a possible violation as it seems to be demanding a political affiliation.
ArdentSlacker
Hell, both versions mean racist. "Fiscal" conservatives would argue that schools be paid for out of, say, property taxes.
And what racial makeup affects property taxes in which direction, due to racism?
aswimmingseaman
Fuck religion. I’m so tired of shit like this
MelodyLightfoot
Not just Christian but Conservative Christian...

Arguably you can have christian values without being a christian ... but I'm not sure that was what was meant.
L1ttl3J1m
"Don't take things personally" is another big red flag.
Church14
Religion is bad, to have included, but don’t miss the desired for conservative politics. There were multiple ‘fuckups”
Degarafarat
I thought child abusers couldn't get near a school?
DeadWhiteMale
The members of that school board should resign.
DeadWhiteMale
I see the advertisement still requires "commitment to preserving traditional principles".
PerthAussieMike
Seems like this Civil Rights Act will be the next on the list for GOP & Trumps SCOTUS to review if he gets back in power

Notice that at no point do they deny that its what they're looking for. They're just agreeing they shouldn't have said the quiet part out loud.
DarthStridious
So the boys do not bend the knee but bend over?

Any organisation that wants "Christian values" is a company that you shouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.
TheVampireDante
Next one will be "First applicant to wear their white hood to the interview will be given preference for position."
DorkJedi
"Membership in important local activist groups a huge plus!"
wylkyn
They want a conservative Christian but they want empathy and emotional intelligence. Good luck.
ArdentSlacker
The empathy is a lie. They want someone who'll track lunch debt.

DukeDarkwood
15 years ago, maybe. Now, it's "We meant what we said, but were hoping you didn't notice." No matter how many times they DO get noticed.
Nanntuckett
They don’t want freedom of religion. It’s always been about Christian privilege.

The good news is that chart is based on data from 10 years ago. Belief in god(s) has dropped sharply in the US over the intervening decade.
onlyhalfghost
weird that Vatican is no data on this map. You'd assume a response of 100% for that place.

It is a pretty small place. I mean, it's got 5.8 popes per square mile...
Ekibwurm
accidently in the official requirements. fully in the things they will check anyway even if not permited.

Next time, the Board will *accidentally* include the words “white, male” before “Christian”.

Somehow i feel like you’re talking about someone from india or china not a white guy bc they ended up firing all the people hired.
TheChunguskaEvent
what they mean is a white man
ElbowDeepInAJedi
But even then only a specific type of white man.
TheCriticsWereConciseItOnlyTookFourLines
But of course not a white man who is an atheist or vegan, though; a real white man
TsubakiTragic
so NADQ?
drunkbs
Is that like the DOW?
TsubakiTragic
Not A Drag Queen.
Quixus
I was thinking WASP. What does your abbreviation mean?
Quixus
Nevermind I figured it out as soon as I hit post.
