You do not, under any circumstances, “gotta hand it to” the Taliban

Good for her! And hilarious that anyone would say this is because she—who, you may recall, was shot by the Taliban for having the temerity to seek an education as a girl, yet got one anyway—is afraid of the “woke mob.” Hilarious but also sad. Sadlarious.

Edit: there’s some confusion, so: Ms. Yousafzai has promoted a movie about a trans woman in a religious country. (I haven’t seen the movie, but in principle that sounds like a nice thing for her to have done.) Meanwhile, WomenReadWomen is a TERF account (they have an “I stand with JK Rowling” hashtag in their Twitter bio, which you can find at https://twitter.com/WomenReadWomen); the quoted tweet is thus meant to inform their followers that Ms. Yousafzai has capitulated to the woke mob. (You can click from the first link through to the quoted tweet to see lamentations to that effect.)

I just read the wikipedia page on her, it says nothing about TERFs or trans people. i’m missing some context here

On who, Malala or the account that was tweeting about her?

I don't even understand the base 'logic' of this accusation.

Searching for reason in the post of someone /w the username 'abbot of unreason'? Maybe not a good idea

I'm also very confused... Maybe because "man" part denying that she is a she, but if it's the point of the thing it's descriptive so iunno

The WomenVoices bio declares “I stand with JK Rowling,” so this is a TERF being mad that Malala isn’t anti-trans.

That was the context I was looking for

But it has nothing to do with being a TERF if Malala is biologically and identifying as female. I can understand the confusion

There's a second half to that quoted tweet...

The TERFdom comes in not b/c Malala is trans, but b/c they’re unhappy that Malala is backing a movie with a trans woman protagonist.

So she backed the movie about the trans woman. That's a good thing, isn't it? What am I missing here? How is she a TERF?

I think I said “good for [Malala]” in my text above. I’m mocking the TERFs (like the WomenVoices account) who are mad at Malala.

It is definitely not clear form this particular post that they are mad at her. on its own, it doesn't read that way to me

Yeah, the context provides the hate. The WomenVoices acct’s bio says “I stand with JK Rowling”; its followers deplore Malala going woke.

so I gather, but that additional context is necessary to see the point you are trying to make, and the post doesnt have it.

Fair enough. I’ve edited to hopefully make things a little clearer.
