Come and see Baz and his Viper at the Canberra Knife Show, 1st of December 2024. Seven years of building both the Viper and it's trailer, now complete. buildsbybaz.com

Need more jack stands... :P

I guess the originals were possibly a little limited by set size, compare with a 'contemporary' carrier aircraft:

Ah the X-wing of the 80's while kids waited for the Empire Strikes Back to be released.

That is the coolest thing!

You just can't beat air-intakes-on-a-space-ship for that real rebellion aesthetic

We have so many old Mark II Colonial Vipers in mothballs and Ukraine could really use them

desperately needs sound

Sadly, there is no sound in space. No one can hear you scream!

Baz in AoC also?

Get that bird in the tube!

I'm on it!

Looks good, but I'm old. I prefer the OG viper style, less rounded.

I believe there was small scale plastic model available of that one when I was a kid

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure when you were a kid, but they did have the Viper and the OG Cylon Raider model kits when I was young - with firing projectiles.

I had the Revell model I think. It was much more detailed but had wings that seemed too thin compared to the show.

Not bad...though wasn't there someone doing a life-size version of the original Viper?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. Scott in Queensland. Project Colonial Viper 1978 on Facebook.

September 17, 1978… I was in seventh grade and waiting eagerly for the pilot episode of Battlestar Galactica…

45 minutes into the two hour pilot episode, ABC News broke in with a news story about Jimmy Carter having brokered a peace deal between Egyptian premier Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin at their Camp David summit. It shit-canned the whole premiere episode and ABC didn't replay it.

I am still deeply embittered to this day.

I remembered that, was in 4th grade. After the anticipation of Star Wars paying off, I had looked forward to the show for a long time.

Couldn't you watch it un YouTube?

Back then watching 'you tube' would have been staring at the soft orange glow of a couple of vacuum tubes in the back of a Marshall amp...

Yes! She's outside! Gorgeous.

Thanks, that actually helped me figure out if it was the newer version of the Viper. The original design is much boxier than the one from the newer series.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, the MKII always look squashed to me. The originals are more equilateral from the back.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey, it's the space combat scenes which you see 20x in 10 episodes! ♥

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Because they were &^%$ing expensive and turned out great.

And a further 10 times just mirrored

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I love the design and build…I’m dumb what’s this from?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The newer battlestar galactica.
