#4 If you are to this point, even occasionally, and have a savings account, every time you get paid put whatever you had left from the last paycheck into savings. Try to avoid it taking any back out, but you can if you need to. Remember to check if your bank charges for transfers and take that into account. It's amazing how much this helps with that paycheck to paycheck horribleness.
